About the role

Rippling is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Traffic and CI/CD Infrastructure teams—the backbone of our production environment and release pipeline. These teams enable Rippling to scale seamlessly across HR, IT, and Finance, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of mission-critical workflows like employee onboarding and payroll processing.

In this role, you’ll drive the technical strategy and execution for building highly available, scalable, and cost-optimized infrastructure. You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies, including AWS EKS, Python, Datadog, Buildkite, and Terraform, to build and maintain a resilient platform. Beyond technical leadership, you'll play a pivotal role in hiring, mentoring, and developing senior engineers, fostering a high-performance culture.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of senior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Hire and onboard senior engineers, ensuring the team is equipped with the talent needed to scale our infrastructure.
• Define and execute technical strategy for scalable, highly available production infrastructure..
• Collaborate with product teams, guiding them in adopting cloud-native solutions that align with Rippling’s architecture.
• Design scalable and robust systems, and make decisions that will keep pace with the rapid growth of Rippling.
• Solving problems on deployment infrastructure at scale and across multi-region.
• Evolve the infra needs as we refactor and split the monolith
• Be a key advocate for infrastructure within the company, building relationships with developers across teams.
• Analyze and optimize infrastructure costs while maintaining system reliability and performance.

What you will need

• 14+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management.
• Experience building and managing large scale AWS, Kubernetes production systems. 
• Experience in build, development, or release systems (e.g. Git, Jenkins, Chef, Docker)
• Backend development experience would be a big plus . It would help you to work on the homegrown frameworks written in Python
