SurveyMonkey is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to develop and productionize novel ML algorithms for insight extraction from survey responses. This role involves applying techniques like natural language processing, classification, spam detection, personalization, and ranking. You will collaborate with the ML team to deploy models, utilize intelligent tools, derive insights from data, suggest new product features, and provide technical leadership to junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of data science experience, expertise in machine learning model development and deployment using tools like Athena, Sagemaker, Snowflake, and Airflow DAG.

What we’re looking for

This role will report to the Sr Manager, ML. The team develops ML algorithms to help our customers make decisions on top of the millions of survey responses we receive daily. To do that well, we use applied machine learning techniques including natural language processing, classification, spam detection, personalization, and ranking. This role plays a critical part in advancing SurveyMonkey’s ability to extract meaningful insights from survey responses, which is essential for delivering differentiated value to customers. 

What you’ll be working on

  • Propose novel machine learning algorithms and productionize them to help customers from survey creation to insight extraction. These projects include detecting bias questions, flagging poor quality responses, and extracting common themes from huge amounts of responses. 
  • Work closely with the ML team to ship models in production seamlessly
  • Implement and utilize intelligent tools and technologies
  • Play an important role in deriving key insights from our enormous data, suggest and implement new product features, and make improvements in existing models for better user experience. 
  • Give technical leadership and mentorship of junior machine learning engineers. 

We’d love to hear from people with

  • 5+ years of hands-on data science experience
  • Industrial data-mining including applied techniques in data mining and machine learning, especially in the domain of natural language processing and fraud detection
  • Expertise in machine learning model development, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, classification and prediction model development, and model deployment.
  • Strong programming skills, expert knowledge of algorithms, and data structures (Python preferred).
  • Experience developing and deploying the machine learning models using tools such as Athena, Sagemaker, Snowflake, and Airflow DAG.
