##### Project description
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong expertise in MySQL deployment and management, both on traditional servers and in containerized environments. The DBA will be responsible for reviewing and verifying the client's current single-server MySQL deployment and leading the migration to a high-availability setup with replication. The goal is to enable an efficient replica server to support analytics workloads without impacting production performance.
##### Responsibilities
- Assess and verify the existing single-server MySQL deployment (server and/or containerized).
- Design and implement a MySQL replication setup (master-replica architecture) to support analytics workloads.
- Ensure replication is optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Define and implement backup, recovery, and monitoring strategies for both primary and replica servers.
- Troubleshoot replication, performance, and availability issues.
- Document the deployment, migration steps, and operational guidelines.
- Collaborate with application and and analytics teams to ensure smooth integration of replica server into analytics workflows.
##### Skills
Must have
- Proven experience as a MySQL DBA in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL replication (asynchronous, semi-sync, GTID-based replication).
- Hands-on experience deploying MySQL on servers and containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expertise in backup and recovery strategies (mysqldump, Percona XtraBackup, etc.).
- Solid understanding of query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with high availability architectures and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Percona Monitoring).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in complex environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud deployments (Azure Database for MySQL).
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD for databases.
- Knowledge of analytics tools that query MySQL (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, custom ETL pipelines).
