The ideal candidate possesses strong backend skills (Python preferred), expertise in web technologies (Vue.js or Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript), database experience (MySQL/Postgres, Redis), and cloud/containerization knowledge (Docker, AWS).

Scopely is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer (Platform) to join our unannounced project in Dublin, the UK, Portugal or Barcelona on a remote or hybrid basis working 3 days a week from the hub.

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO title, creating a team of talented and passionate game makers to join us on this exciting journey!
What You Will Do
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a strong focus on modern web development to help build and maintain the backend for our Game LiveOps platform. In this role, you’ll work closely with product teams, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-performance tools and features that support real-time operations and engaging gameplay experiences.
- End-to-End Development: Build and maintain full stack web applications and internal tools, from front-end UI/UX to backend APIs
- LiveOps & Live Services: Develop and optimize features that support live game operations, empowering our designers and operators with real-time control and insights
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product teams, game designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, plan technical solutions, and ensure successful deployments
- Scalable Solutions: Design and implement high-performance, low-latency web services in a cloud environment (AWS preferred) that can handle millions of players
- Automation & Best Practices: Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, implement automated tests, and ensure high standards of code quality and maintainability
- Infrastructure & Deployment: Utilize containerization (Docker) and infrastructure-as-code practices to deliver reliable, repeatable, and efficient deployment processes
- Technical Guidance: Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture planning to ensure best practices and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Experience: Several years of professional experience as a software engineer, with a strong foundation in programming and web development
- Backend Proficiency: Hands-on experience in modern backend languages (Python strongly preferred; Go or C# also a plus) and a willingness to learn new technologies
- Web Technologies: Solid understanding of RESTful services and modern web frameworks (Vue.js or Angular preferred). Experience with JavaScript (ES6), TypeScript, and CSS preprocessors (e.g., SCSS) is essential
- Database Expertise: Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) and caching solutions (Redis). Capable of writing efficient queries and designing schemas for low-latency environments
- Cloud & Containers: Experience with containerized solutions (Docker) in a public cloud environment (AWS preferred). Infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) is a bonus.
- Automation & CI/CD: Demonstrated ability to set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and load testing for robust production deployments
- Engineering Best Practices: Committed to writing clean, maintainable, and testable code, with an emphasis on performance and scalability
- Strong Communicator: Comfortable discussing complex technical concepts with non-technical team members and collaborating with diverse teams
