Imagine what we’ll build together.
We deliver trusted, scalable, secure services and infrastructure to empower Thumbtack employees with the tools they need to get work done. We partner with the business and own our platform of internal tools throughout their lifecycle -- intake, prioritization, buy/build, implementation, support and retirement.
We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join Thumbtack’s Business Applications team. This team builds the scalable backend tooling and infrastructure that powers our frontline sales and service, commercial operations, and trust & safety organizations.
You’ll design and implement modular backend services that support our Help Center, Contact Center, CX AI Platforms, CRM, and trust and safety operational systems. Your work will drive higher pro supply through more effective sales campaigns, deliver stronger support experiences, and strengthen the systems that keep our marketplace safe.
This role will also shape how we integrate third-party enterprise tools (Salesforce, contact center platforms, etc.) with Thumbtack’s backend product services. These integrations will unlock automation and AI-driven workflows (e.g., via Conversational AI), accelerating our ability to support pros, customers, and business functions at scale. As our ecosystem grows and matures, this engineer will help develop sustainable architecture that enables real-time event-driven systems, handling of large data volumes, and personalization at scale.
