As a Senior Software Engineer on Google's Search Content Platform, you'll design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. You will work on projects critical to Google's needs, contributing to a universally accessible search experience. Responsibilities include writing and testing code, participating in design reviews, reviewing peer code, contributing to documentation, and resolving system issues. You'll leverage your expertise in front-end frameworks, full-stack development, API development, and ideally experience with LLMs and distributed systems. The role involves collaboration with data science teams and managing project priorities.
Must have:
  • 5+ years software development experience
  • Experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Experience with front-end frameworks or API development
  • Testing, maintaining, or launching software products
  • Software design and architecture experience
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in CS or related field
  • Experience with Python, C, C++, Java
  • Distributed systems engineering experience
  • Experience with LLMs
  • Data science team collaboration experience
  • Data management experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with front-end frameworks, full-stack development, or API development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java).
  • Experience in distributed systems engineering, building low latency, and high throughput data platform services.
  • Experience in applying Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve real product problems.
  • Experience in working with Data Science team.
  • Experience in data management.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
