Job Description

ION is seeking a Senior Technical Consultant with a focus on Openlink Systems. The role involves infrastructure sizing, deployment, testing, tuning, and implementation of the system within a team environment. Responsibilities include building and implementing customer requirements, mentoring team members, and collaborating with business analysts and clients. The consultant will provide technology and infrastructure advice, troubleshoot technical and performance issues, and support client training. Key activities include hands-on project implementation, architectural design decisions, gathering technical requirements, and system deployment. The role requires gaining proficiency in system functionalities, setting up product environments, and performing minor custom enhancements. The consultant will lead implementation projects, adhere to documentation standards, and maintain full chargeability on client accounts, with travel to customer sites as needed. Full overlap with the EMEA time zone and some overlap with the US time zone are required.
Must have:
  • 8+ years industry experience in enterprise application deployment
  • 5+ years Openlink Endur experience
  • Expertise in 3 main Openlink Endur areas
  • 5+ years consulting experience
  • Strong RDBMS experience (Oracle or MS SQL Server)
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts
  • Advanced networking knowledge
  • Proficiency in Windows/Linux
  • Strong SQL scripting skills
  • Good Java (OpenJVS) and object-oriented skills
  • Experience creating Report Builder reports and TPM workflows
  • Experience with source control/CI tools (GIT, TFS, Confluence, Bamboo)
  • Experience with issue tracking systems (Jira, NetSuite)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
Good to have:
  • Openlink Endur implementations, Connex Integration JMS/WebServices
  • Openlink Standard Gateways setup, TPM workflow
  • Report Builder, Services manager, Grid balancing
  • EOD performance tuning, Integrating monitoring tools

Job Details

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join ION as a Senior Technical Consultant. As a Senior Technical consultant, you will be responsible for reviewing infrastructure sizing, deploying, testing, tuning, and implementing the system and working in a team environment. You will also have some responsibility for building and implementing the customer requirements while mentoring other team members. You will work with business analysts, clients, and team members to design and implement product extensions, configurations, and interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Assume hands-on project implementation in all phases of the implementation (design, build, test, deploy)
    • Provide technology & infrastructure design advice, design, analysis, and troubleshooting in the discovery workshop, design, configuration, testing, and production support of the ION solution for the client’s business needs
    • Participate and support the architectural design decisions regarding interfaces between ION solution and other systems and gain the client’s confidence in the recommended approach
    • Gather and document technical requirements and any other deliverables required by the project
    • Participate in requirements analysis and system deployment and configuration at client site or ION Cloud
    • Support client training services
    • Attend Product trainings to gain knowledge of the system’s functionality, architecture, and technical components
    • Present the project’s technical solution to client representatives
    • Provide clients with full range of technical support services for troubleshooting technical and performance issues with little support from the team lead
    • Gain proficiency in one or more functional and technical area for the system (interfaces, deployment, performance tuning, database analysis, etc)
    • Setup internal ION Product Environments for testing and validation as needed
    • Perform some minor custom enhancement work in Report Builder, TPM and OpenJVS scripting
    • Track deliverables to estimates and deliver on time
    • Lead a small to medium scale implementation project 
    • Follow documentation standards and resolution process flow for all deliverables
    • Support and adhere to ION’s best practices
    • Keep Line Manager and engagement owner(s) informed regarding the status of assigned responsibilities
    • Participate in Upgrade Implementation Analysis and provide detailed solutioning in the Requirements Traceability Matrix and Technical Upgrade document as well as accurate estimates
    • Maintain full chargeability on client account(s) as assigned
    • Travel to customer site to work on projects as needed
    • Full overlap with EMEA time zone is required. Some overlap with US time zone at least until 11:30pm IST depending on projects assigned. 

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

    • Product Specific Qualifications:
    • Openlink Endur Product experience in implementations, Connex Integration JMS or WebServices, Openlink Standard Gateways setup, TPM workflow experience, Report Builder experience, Services manager and setting up services, Grid balancing, EOD performance tuning, Integrating monitoring tools with Openlink, Modules installations (E.g. Movement Manager, Market Data Tools, Recs, etc.)
    • Business knowledge of 2+ commodities.
    • Implemented at least V18+.
    • Experience with systems aspect such as installation, upgrades, health checks is a must.

    • Technical Qualifications:  
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a directly related IT field
    • 8+ years’ industry experience in enterprise application deployment and troubleshooting
    • Minimum 5-year direct experience working Openlink Endur in configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, creating enhancements and performance tuning.
    • Expertise in at least 3 main areas of Openlink Endur
    • Minimum 5-years working in consulting capacity.
    • Strong Experience with systems aspect such as installation, upgrades, health checks
    • Strong Experience with RDBMS such Oracle or MS SQL Server is required
    • Ability to follow system deployment steps with little-to-no guidance from lead team members
    • Strong understanding of relational database concepts
    • Strong Database administration skills
    • Experience writing detailed systems specifications, deployment runbooks, how-to documentation
    • Advanced networking, distributed networks knowledge
    • Proficiency in Windows or Linux Operating systems, shell commands, and security architecture
    • Experience with industry standard performance monitoring tools
    • Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure and AWS)
    • Strong SQL scripting skills in Oracle or MSSQL
    • Good experience with Java (OpenJVS) and object-oriented skills
    • Ability to create Report Builder reports and to create TPM workflows and troubleshoot performance issues
    • Experience with source control and continuous integration tools (GIT, TFS, Confluence, Bamboo) and issue tracking systems (Jira, NetSuite) is required
    • Experience working with Integrated Development environments such as Eclipse
    • Experience writing detailed technical specifications
    • Experience with Interface implementation following industry standard integration patterns
    • Experience with office productivity tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Must be self-motivated, independent, resourceful, and capable to take constructive feedback and strive for continuous improvement
    • For on-site consultants, ability to work onsite at client locations as needed
    • Ability to work as part of a project team structure
