Job Description

As a Fullstack Engineer at FT Online, you will design, implement and maintain internal web-based tools for our Live team, engaging millions of players globally. These tools dynamically change gameplay, progression, in-game store, and matchmaking. You will work in agile teams, integrating with various systems, and collaborating with game design, UX, product, and analytics teams to deliver online solutions using modern technologies and cloud infrastructure.
Must have:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on online game design needs.
  • Analyze, design, and implement game design features.
  • Write well-designed, testable, maintainable, and scalable code.
  • Participate in technical architecture discussions and decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of software quality and maintainability.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in TypeScript.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in modern web development.
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery.
  • Experience developing distributed, resilient, scalable back-end systems.
  • Proficiency in Scala, Java, or other JVM languages.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and testable code.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
Good to have:
  • Experience with React and Mobx
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container-orchestration systems
  • Experience with cloud services, preferably AWS
  • Experience with functional languages (e.g. Scala)
  • Contributions to Open-Source projects

The Role

We believe that to provide the best possible experience for our players we need the best tools possible!

As a Fullstack Engineer at FT Online, you will design, implement and maintain internal web-based tools that will be used by our Live team to engage with millions of our players across the globe, dynamically changing the gameplay experience, progression, in-game store, matchmaking and many other aspects of our games. You will report into a Development Director.

FT Online works in small teams that collaborate to create online solutions for our games, using modern technologies and frameworks deployed to a cloud-based infrastructure. You will integrate with multiple existing systems; some developed in-house and some by external parties. The role will require working with many different teams within EA.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g. game design, UX, product and analytics teams) to identify and fulfill online game design needs
  • Analyze, design, specify and implement game design features/solutions
  • Work in an agile engineering team - writing well designed, testable, maintainable and scalable code
  • Be part of technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions within the team
  • Drive continuous improvement of software quality, customer experience, and maintainability of products/features

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in TypeScript, including an understanding of concepts like closures, asynchronous programming, state management and dependency injection patterns
  • 5+ years of experience working on web projects applying modern web development best practices, from UI in the front-end to micro-services and cloud services in the back end
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery
  • Experience developing distributed, resilient, and scalable back-end systems using Scala, Java, or other JVM language
  • Write clear / concise maintainable, testable (unit & integration testing) code
  • Great communication skills that support a collaborative working environment – English is a must

Nice to have:

  • Experience with React and Mobx.
