Job Description

This position is responsible for enhancing and maintaining existing software products and developing new ones. The ideal candidate is driven, takes initiative, works with minimal supervision, is confident in their expertise, a team player, and a creative problem solver. Key tasks include designing and implementing new features, diagnosing complex defects, and actively participating in Agile ceremonies.
Must Have:
  • Design and implement new features and functionality.
  • Diagnose and fix complex product defects.
  • Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies.
  • Utilize self-training tools (e.g., LinkedIn Learning).
  • Write less complex technical specifications.
  • Perform testing of features and defect fixes.
  • Follow and refine development best practices.
  • Help identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Comply with standards, version controls, and release procedures.
  • Work with technical writers for product documentation.
  • Work under minimal supervision on various projects.
  • Assist or mentor less experienced team members.
  • On-call duty will be required after the ramp-up period.
  • Master of Science in Computer Science or 5+ years as a C developer.
  • Working knowledge of software life-cycle applications.
  • Scripting skills and knowledge of PKI.
  • Understanding of requirements gathering, development, code review, and testing lifecycle.
  • Deep knowledge of C coding.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix platforms and command line.
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum Project development methodology.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with a team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design and implement new features and functionality.
  • Diagnose and fix complex product defects within a project or supporting customers.
  • Has basic knowledge and/or working toward having basic knowledge for assigned Fortra product(s).
  • Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies.
  • The ability and self-discipline to use self-training tools (e.g. LinkedIn Learning).
  • Be able to start writing less complex technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.
  • Perform testing of features and defect fixes performed by other developers.
  • Follow and help refine our development best practices and standards.
  • Help identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • Comply with standards, version controls, and product release procedures.
  • Work with technical writers to ensure product documentation on new features and changes are properly documented.
  • Work under minimal supervision on various projects.
  • Some latitude for independent judgement.
  • Assist or mentor other less experienced team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • On-call will be required after the ramp up period
  • Master of Science in Computer Science or 5+ years of documented work as a C developer.
  • Working knowledge of software life-cycle applications.
  • Scripting skills, Knowledge of PKI.
  • Understanding the lifecycle of requirements gathering, development, code review and testing.
  • Deep knowledge of C coding.
  • Experience of Linux/Unix platforms, skillful at the command line.
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum Project development methodology.
  • A good working knowledge of the relevant programming language requirement for this role.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to collaborate and work with a team are necessary.
