Job Description

Ziff Davis Shopping seeks a Software Engineer II proficient in PHP, Laravel, MySQL, and JavaScript. Responsibilities include identifying, scoping, and architecting solutions for new features, leading initiatives, diagnosing and fixing technical issues, and ensuring timely, high-quality, maintainable solutions. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with stakeholders. The engineer will work on high-traffic commerce websites and their supporting content management systems.

Must have:

4+ years PHP/Javascript experience
Laravel/Rails (or similar) experience
Relational database experience
Sound technical judgment
Teamwork and communication skills

Good to have:

MySQL experience
Laravel Nova experience
Vue JS/Alpine JS experience
Tailwind CSS and responsive design experience
Git, Docker, testing framework experience

Software Engineer II

We are currently looking for a Software Engineer II to add to our dynamic team.

About The Role:

Ziff Davis Shopping is looking for a Software Engineer II ( PHP / Laravel / MySQL / JS) to join our Engineering team. Our Engineering team works on some of the most trafficked commerce sites on the internet - a list that includes Retailmenot.com, Offers.com, Techbargains.com, TheBlackFriday.com and more. Candidates can expect to work on both new and existing applications, with a primary focus on the websites themselves and the content management systems that back them.

What You’ll Do:

Identify, scope and architect solutions for new features in a single system while understanding implications on adjacent systems
Lead larger initiatives within team
Diagnose and fix deep technical issues
Consistently deliver timely, high quality, and maintainable solutions
Identify and communicate cross-team dependencies

Qualifications:

4+ years of industry development experience (PHP, Javascript).
Experience working with MVC frameworks Laravel, Rails (or similar)
Experience working with relational databases
Demonstrate sound technical judgment that considers technology alternatives, impact on affected systems, and tradeoffs
Able to work in a team environment as well as independently
Effectively communicate with stakeholders and team members
Strong desire to learn new technologies and stay up to date with frameworks and libraries

Bonus Skills

Experience working with MySQL
Experience working with Laravel and Laravel Nova
Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as Vue JS or Alpine JS
Experience using Tailwind CSS and with responsive web design
Experience working with Git, Docker, testing frameworks
