As a Software Engineer III on the Android and Pixel Camera Foundations (APCF) team at Google, you'll be involved in the daily development of camera features. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, C, C++, JavaScript).
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with testing, profiling, benchmarking, and optimizing code and applications.
  • Experience building applications or libraries that operate across processes.
  • Experience building Android applications or services.
  • Experience with multithreading.

As a Software Engineer on the Android and Pixel Camera Foundations (APCF) team, you would be responsible for doing the day to day feature development on your project(s) which will involve developing and testing code, designing and implementing new features and APIs, learning and applying new tools and APIs to your day to day development, and collaborating with your teammates to develop fast, high quality and high performance camera and media components that work well across Android and Pixel.

The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and prototype features and tests using Kotlin, Java.
  • Propose designs for new APIs, and give feedback on design documents and code.
  • Work with other members of our team to develop features, review changes, and identify bugs.
  • Plan and organize your work based on internal requirements and planning.
  • Maintain a high quality, performance, and reliability bar for the libraries and components our team develops.
