Job Summary
As a Software Engineering Manager II in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) at Google, you'll lead a team responsible for the global uptime and performance of key services. Responsibilities include owning end-to-end availability, building automation to prevent issues, mentoring the team, managing on-call rotations, and designing/delivering software to improve service efficiency and scalability. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, software development, and people management. You'll work with massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems ensuring reliability and a fast rate of improvement. The SRE team focuses on optimizing systems, building infrastructure, and automation.

Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience managing people or teams.
- 3 years of experience leading projects.
- 3 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Software/Systems Engineers on projects for users and be directly responsible for uptime.
- Own end-to-end availability and performance of key services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Automate response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
- Lead by example, mentor the team and establish credibility through quality technical execution.
- Manage on-call rotations across continents, using a follow-the-sun model.
- Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of Google's services.
