The team focuses on delivering innovative experiences, working in small, collaborative agile teams with product management, development, quality, and UX design.
Must have:
  • Architect Android application features.
  • Develop native Android apps from ideas to production builds.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on solutions and delivery.
  • Implement Android specific design patterns.
  • Develop code and testing methodologies for DevOps metrics.
  • 4+ years of Android development experience in Kotlin and Java.
  • Deep experience in unit and functional UI testing (JUnit/Espresso).
  • Proficiency in SOLID principles.
  • Experience with modern design patterns (MVVM, Dependency Injection).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience designing optimal mobile services contracts.
Good to have:
  • Experience working on large scale applications encompassing dozens of features
  • Experience with patterns for achieving feature modularity
  • Experience with reactive programming using RxJava / RxKotlin
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose
  • B.S Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or equivalence

The Selling team is looking for an Android Engineer who is passionate about creating apps that consumers love. This is an amazing opportunity to join a world leader in mobile commerce and directly impact the lives of a global population, while increasing the revenue of eBay exponentially.

Our Android app, with millions of daily active users, facilitates billions in commerce transactions, and is the entry point for an increasing number of new customers. Your new team will be focused on delivering holistic and innovative experiences to the apps that delight our customers and move the bar on the industry standard.

Our cross-functional teams including product management, product development, quality, and user experience research and design work together on a daily basis and enjoy collaborating on large-scale, challenging, and interesting problems. Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Architect the development of Selling features in the Android application
  • Native Android app development and converting ideas, designs and requirements to concrete stable production builds
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Product and Engineering team to identify problems, come up with creative solutions, and help with tracking and delivering within the release plan
  • Understand and implement Android specific design patterns
  • Experience with Android Studio, Java, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Dragger, network debugging (e.g. Charles), revision control systems (e.g. Git) and bug tracking (e.g. Jira)
  • Develop and iterate within a rather lean, yet very fast-paced Engineering team
  • Develop code and testing methodologies to improve the DevOps "Four Key Metrics"
  • Be part of a transformative, productive and fun startup culture

Job Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience developing Android applications, with deep experience in both Kotlin and Java
  • Deep experience in unit testing and functional UI testing with JUnit / Espresso
  • Well versed in SOLID principles
  • Experience with Android Studio
  • Experience with modern design patterns such as MVVM, Dependency Injection, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate and drive best practices with engineers from numerous teams
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience working with services teams to design optimal mobile services contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on large scale applications encompassing dozens of features
  • Experience with patterns for achieving feature modularity
  • Experience with reactive programming using RxJava / RxKotlin
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose
  • B.S Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or equivalence
