Job Description

Broadcom is seeking a System Software Engineer to design and develop RDMA protocol features for Ethernet NIC products, crucial for high-performance computing and AI/ML applications. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, architecting scalable solutions, and contributing to software design, validation, and documentation. The engineer will also work with QA and customer support to ensure high-quality products and timely issue resolution, focusing on QoS and congestion control domains.
Must have:
  • Design and develop RDMA protocol features for Ethernet NIC products.
  • Work closely with architecture, silicon design, and other software/firmware teams.
  • Author and contribute to software design, development, validation, and documentation.
  • Work with the QA team to define test cases and review test plans.
  • Provide timely resolutions for customer field issues.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Electronics & Communications or equivalent.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience.
  • Significant experience in RDMA protocol, QoS, Packet Classifications, Linux Systems programming, Linux kernel, Linux Network Drivers, Linux Kernel Networking, Virtual Switching and Data center Networking, Firmware development.
  • Good understanding of the RDMA protocol.
  • Excellent programming skills in C, C++ and Python.
  • Proficiency in developing optimized code in both x86 and ARM64 compiler toolchains.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills in combined software and hardware environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Hands-on experience with RDMA.
  • Experience in writing test scripts to verify NIC behavior.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux kernel and Linux kernel networking.
  • Experience analyzing and tuning performance for a variety of HPC workloads.

Job Description:

Ethernet NIC product portfolio is designed for high performance computing and networking applications including AI and ML. This is driven by the growing need for high server bandwidth, highest throughput and lowest latency networks. The NIC team is involved in the development of the next generation of Ethernet NIC solutions for AI/ML and High performance computing applications. We are looking for excellent software and firmware engineers to join the NIC product development team.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and development of the RDMA protocol features for the Ethernet NIC. You will work cross functionally with marketing, architects, silicon development and the QA teams to design, implement, document and test high quality software, drivers and the firmware components.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and development of the RDMA protocol features for the Ethernet NIC products, preferably in QoS and congestion control domains.

2. Work closely with the architecture teams, silicon design teams and other software / firmware teams to architect, design and implement scalable and high performance applications.

3. Author and contribution in software design, development, validation, and documentation to deliver high quality, high performance and functionally excellent products.

4. Work with the QA team to define high quality test cases, review the test plans and provide support through the release development cycle.

5. Work closely with the customer support engineers on any customer field issues and provide timely resolutions.

Requirements:

1. BS/MS in Computer Science, Electronics & Communications or equivalent with minimum 12+ years of experience.

2. Significant experience in RDMA protocol, QoS, Packet Classifications, Linux Systems programming, Linux kernel, Linux Network Drivers, Linux Kernel Networking, Virtual Switching and Data center Networking, Firmware development.

3. A good understanding of the RDMA protocol is a must have. Hands-on experience with RDMA is highly desired.

4. Experience in writing test scripts to verify NIC behavior is highly desired.

5. Deep knowledge of Linux kernel and Linux kernel networking is an added advantage.

6. Experience analyzing and tuning performance for a variety of HPC workloads.

7. Excellent programming skills in C, C++ and Python. Proficiency in developing optimized code in both x86 and ARM64 compiler toolchains.

8. Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills in a combined software and hardware environments.

9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to efficiently collaborate with multiple teams across geographically diverse areas.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $141,300 - $226,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
