This IT Systems Architect role supports the Measurement & Test Engineering organisation in expanding, improving, and maintaining their global portfolio of Aerospace Engine Test Facilities. The organisation designs and delivers infrastructure for testing next-generation gas turbine engines for Civil and Defence applications. Responsibilities include defining and delivering IT & OT systems architecture, designing strategic solutions for system and software management, ensuring cyber security resilience, and aligning with Group IT policies. Must have:
  • Define and deliver IT & OT systems architecture for test facilities.
  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic solutions for managing and maintaining systems and software.
  • Work closely with key suppliers to ensure IT & OT systems are fit for purpose and align with Group IT policies.
  • Ensure test networks are resilient to cyber security risks and adhere to latest standards.
  • Interface with Group IT to ensure alignment on policies and toolsets.

Measurement & Test Engineering organisation have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an IT Systems Architect to support in expanding, improving, and maintaining their global portfolio of Aerospace Engine Test Facilities.

The Measurement & Test Engineering organisation are responsible for designing and delivering the infrastructure required to test the next generation of gas turbine engines for both Civil and Defence applications.

You will be working for the Technical Authority for Aerospace Engine Test Facilities. In this role you will be working with colleagues locally in Derby, opportunities also exist to work more widely within the UK as well as Internationally.

What you will be doing

  • You will be responsible for defining and delivering IT & OT systems architecture for test facilities, working with the Measurement & Test Organisation and Group IT to support next-generation Civil and Defence gas turbine engines.
  • You will be responsible for designing and implementing both the short- and long-term strategic solutions for managing and maintaining the systems and software used in test facilities.
  • Work closely with our key suppliers to ensure that the IT & OT systems installed and used on our test facilities are fit for purpose and align with Group IT policies.
  • Ensure test networks are resilient to cyber security risks and adhere to the latest national and international standards.
  • Interface with group IT to ensure alignment on policies and toolsets where possible.

Position qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or HND + industrial experience
  • Project environment experience
  • Skilled in writing technical reports/documents
  • Able to define test requirements & perform acceptance testing
  • Experience with cost-benefit analysis & business case development

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cyber security tools & standards
  • Familiarity with programming (Java, C++, Python, SQL)
  • Awareness of modern systems tools & processes
  • Experience with DevOps & Agile practices
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering approaches
