Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

About the team and the role:

An eBay subsidiary, TCGplayer is on a quest to be the most trusted trading card game (TCG) platform — connecting and empowering the hobby community.  Trading card games are a $25B global market that creates community connection through in-person games (Pokemon; Magic: The Gathering; YiGiOh; etc.).  Founded by and for TCG enthusiasts, we operate a global marketplace, and create tools, technologies and solutions that help small businesses simply and profitably sell TCGs at scale.

TCGplayer is looking for a technical lead to provide on-site leadership and guidance to our growing engineering and product teams. This team is part of eBay’s Global Capability Center (GCC) being launched in Bengaluru, India.

In this role, you will work closely with the rest of the eBay onsite leadership team as well as TCGplayer leaders in the US to create a collaborative culture of delivery in a new eBay GCC.  You will help drive hiring and provide ongoing employee support and guidance as the TCGplayer team scales. You will have responsibility for a team of TCGplayer engineers, starting with 25 in July, expanding to 40 by year-end, and potentially reaching 60–80 over the next few years.  These employees will also have  dotted-line reporting to their respective US-based engineering leaders and your role will be critical in providing day-to-day support, mentorship, and ensuring alignment with TCGplayer priorities. From the outset, building a cohesive, high-performing, and values-driven culture that reflects eBay’s core values will be essential. As a key culture champion for both TCGplayer and eBay, you will help shape an inspiring and collaborative work environment in India.

You will become the center point of contact as the senior leader for TCGplayer onsite in India, connecting with TCGplayer’s US-based business as needed and liasoning with eBay peers and partners in the India location and beyond. You will establish and evangelize for everything the TCGplayer team needs to work in concert to deliver on software development, cloud engineering, product advancement and implementations critical to achieving TCGplayer goals and objectives as part of eBay.  As we mature onsite, you will help establish and support new waves of resources as we extend TCGplayer’s development and product teams in India.

What you will accomplish:

  • Lead the day-to-day site operations in India for TCGplayer inside eBay’s GCC, serving as the senior-most TCGplayer representative onsite.
  • Build and promote the eBay brand in India, fostering a high-performance culture that attracts, develops, and retains top-tier talent.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop diverse engineering teams to maximize performance and professional growth.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and skills assessments.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven environment that promotes cross-cultural communication and innovation.
  • Provide on-the-ground project management and oversight for teams across multiple functions, including Product, Identity, DevOps, Cloud Platform, Data, and Mobile.
  • Serve as the cultural and technical bridge between India and US teams, ensuring alignment on strategy, product vision, engineering roadmaps, and delivery outcomes.
  • Partner with eBay and TCGplayer leaders and stakeholders to grow and scale the India organization, continuously improving delivery capability, culture, and retention.
  • Drive cost efficiency and operational excellence, maximizing productivity while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Lead site-level governance practices and operations, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and standards.
  • Champion team cohesion and transparent communication, reinforcing eBay/TCGplayer’s values and building a unified culture across functions and geographies.
  • Provide excellent support for direct-line managers in hiring, mentoring, and career development strategies to build and sustain high-performing product, engineering, and operational teams in India.

What you will bring:

Must Haves:

  • 15+ years of experience in product development and/or software engineering, including expertise in architecture, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles (VP/ Senior Director).
  • 5+ years of experience leading India-based GCCs or Centers of Excellence (CoEs), managing at least 100 product development and engineering resources and working closely with US-based business and technology leaders.
  • Proven ability to support scaling of high-performing engineering teams in India, fostering a strong team culture aligned with global organizational values.
  • Experience leading cross-functional, cross-border teams and enabling alignment across product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Exceptional leadership, people development, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across levels, functions, and geographies.
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing site operations, talent development, and delivery execution.
  • Strong business and product mindset with the ability to guide technology teams through trade-offs in support of customer experience, speed, and strategic impact.
  • Comfortable representing the India site in global leadership forums and serving as a cultural and operational bridge between geographies.

You will bring extra value if you happen to have:

  • Any experience with eBay in your past career.
  • Strong technical background in relevant areas of our tech stack (.NET, Java, Vue, AWS, Snowflake, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architectures, modern SDLC, and platform development.
  • Experience in high-scale, consumer-facing e-commerce or digital platform companies.
