Job Description

Stardock is seeking an experienced Technical Artist to join their Art team for an unannounced game title. This full-time, salaried position in Plymouth, Michigan, requires a candidate skilled in creating technical pipelines with an artistic eye. Responsibilities include developing tools and scripts, supporting art team with tool setup and troubleshooting, implementing technical art, and maintaining documentation, ensuring operational efficiency within their proprietary game engine.
Must have:
  • Evaluate artists’ needs, identify issues, and create tools, and scripts to support the art creation process including rigging tools.
  • Support art team with tool setup and deployment, troubleshooting, and ensuring tools and pipelines are operational within our proprietary game engine.
  • Help design, manage, and implement technical aspects of art within the creative and technical specifications of the game.
  • Exhibit a high degree of technical knowledge about current industry content workflows, tools, and pipelines.
  • Champion best practices and actively maintain comprehensive documentation.
Good to have:
  • Experience with standard industry tools such as Maya
  • Experience scripting/programming in Python, C++, C#

Job Details

Stardock is currently seeking an experienced Technical Artist to work closely with our internal Art team on an unannounced game title. The ideal candidate will be skillful in creating technical pipelines and will also have an artistic eye. This is a salaried, full-time position reporting to our Plymouth, Michigan studio.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluate artists’ needs, identify issues, and create tools, and scripts to support the art creation process including rigging tools.
  • Support art team with tool setup and deployment, troubleshooting, and ensuring tools and pipelines are operational within our proprietary game engine.
  • Help design, manage, and implement technical aspects of art within the creative and technical specifications of the game.
  • Exhibit a high degree of technical knowledge about current industry content workflows, tools, and pipelines.
  • Champion best practices and actively maintain comprehensive documentation.

Education and/or Experience Desired:

  • 3+ Years professional experience in game development as a Technical Artist.
  • Degree or certification in related field.
  • Effective communication, teamwork and collaboration skills with different audiences: artists, engineers, managers, designers, etc.
  • Experience with standard industry tools such as Maya is preferred.
  • Experience scripting/programming in Python, C++, C# is preferred.
