Job Description

As a Technical MCR Operator, you will be at the heart of live racing and media operations, ensuring seamless delivery of content. Working in the Master Control Room, you'll handle media preparation, playout, live channel switching, and quality control of technical transmission feeds. Responsibilities also include supporting audio channel switching for retail customers and managing content storage, all while upholding a customer-first mindset and contributing to high-energy broadcast events.
Must have:
  • Preparing transmission schedules, commercial logs, and graphics
  • Coordinating, lining up and monitoring of our domestic and international circuits
  • Performing quality control and ensuring error-free transmission
  • Preparing, ingesting, and managing media content for playout
  • Logging and storing local and international production material
  • Maintaining media servers, archives, and FTP systems
  • Coordinating linefeeds, voice-overs, and studio content
  • Switching retail audio channels for optimal customer experience
  • Liaising with Producers, Directors, OB's and external providers to ensure smooth operations
  • Generating shift reports and escalating technical issues as needed

From day one, you'll dive into the fast-paced world of racing and media operations, helping ensure seamless delivery of live and scheduled content to our customers. As an MCR Operator, you’ll work in our Master Control Room and collaborate closely with a highly experienced team. Your role will span areas such as media preparation and playout, live channel switching, quality control, and the management of technical transmission feeds. You’ll also support audio channel switching for retail customers and ensure content is clipped, labelled, and stored correctly — all while embodying our core values and customer-first mindset. Where and how you can work...

We have offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Sydney, and Brisbane, to name a few! This role will be based in our dedicated studios.

With a 24/7 operation, every second counts and you’re at the heart of the action. You'll need to thrive in a dynamic environment and be flexible across the week including weekdays, weekends, some public holidays, and late nights.

Your day-to-day...

  • Preparing transmission schedules, commercial logs, and graphics
  • Coordinating, lining up and monitoring of our domestic and international circuits
  • Performing quality control and ensuring error-free transmission
  • Preparing, ingesting, and managing media content for playout
  • Logging and storing local and international production material
  • Maintaining media servers, archives, and FTP systems
  • Coordinating linefeeds, voice-overs, and studio content
  • Switching retail audio channels for optimal customer experience
  • Liaising with Producers, Directors, OB's and external providers to ensure smooth operations

You're a match if you ideally have...

  • 3+ years of broadcasting experience or a relevant qualification in Digital Media or similar fields.
  • Strong understanding of broadcasting operations and workflows, ensuring smooth live content delivery.
  • Reliable and professional, with the ability to stay calm under pressure and meet tight deadlines during live broadcasts.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring flawless execution of graphics, audio, and broadcast elements.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and issue resolution.
  • Reliable and professional, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Racing knowledge and interest is favorable, helping to enhance broadcast quality and understanding of key moments.
