Job Description

The Tune Technician is responsible for tuning and repairing skis and snowboards, including rental equipment and guest equipment. The role involves assisting in equipment transfer between Aspen Skiing Company locations and reporting to the Tune Shop Manager. Key responsibilities include receiving and sorting equipment, tuning and repairing skis and snowboards using the Wintersteiger tune machine, inspecting finished products for quality, organizing finished products for timely delivery, and performing daily cleaning and maintenance of machines, benches, and tools. The technician also completes closing procedures and performs other assigned duties. Applications are accepted until October 1, 2025, for the 2025-26 Winter Season.

Job Description

Position Summary

The Tune Technician is responsible for tuning and repairing skis and snowboards. This includes rental equipment and skis/snowboards held for guests overnight. Tune Technicians also assist in the transfer of equipment between Aspen Skiing Company locations. This role reports to the Tune Shop Manager.

Applications for this position will be accepted until October 1, 2025 for the 2025-26 Winter Season.

Essential Job Functions

  • Receive and sort incoming skis and snowboards according to established protocol
  • Tune and repair skis and snowboards, finishing with the Wintersteiger tune machine for final stone structure and edge polishing, when necessary
  • Inspect finished product and ensure it meets the quality standards established by the Tune Manager
  • Properly organize finished product to ensure accurate and timely delivery
  • Clean and maintain machines, benches and hand tools each night
  • Perform closing procedures outlined by the Tune Manager and ready shop for morning crew
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Courses in Wintersteiger equipment use and maintenance preferred
  • Certification in ski mounting, torque testing and DIN settings preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of ski and snowboard construction and epoxy
  • Basic knowledge of ski and snowboard maintenance and tuning (edging, base repair, and hot waxing)
  • Understanding on how to assist customers and meet their needs effectively
  • Demonstrates expertise in the technical aspect of the job
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Completes tasks and goals efficiently and effectively
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures and exercises caution when working
  • Proficiency in communicating clearly both verbally and in writing to team members and customers
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes in processes, customer flow, environments, and tasks
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, completing work at a high standard

Additional Information

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required
  • Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50 lbs.)
