Job Description

As the Vice President of Strategic Planning, reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) you will be a critical enterprise leader driving EA's planning discipline into the next era of growth. You will be based in Redwood City, CA. You'll partner with senior leadership—across Finance, Publishing, Studios, and Corporate functions—to align our decisions with external realities and long-term goals. With leadership of three impactful teams, you will ensure that planning, intelligence, and execution connect into a cohesive strategic narrative that supports enterprise value creation.
Must have:
  • Be the Strategy function's peer voice in EA's Integrated Business Planning (IBP) forums and other enterprise-level decision bodies.
  • Be a trusted partner to SVPs across Finance, Commercial, and Studios, shaping decisions on portfolio trade-offs, investment prioritization, and risk-return profiles.
  • Embed external signals—market trends, competitive dynamics, consumer behavior—into forecasting assumptions and strategic plans.
  • Challenge planning baselines and assumptions with authority, bringing data-driven conviction and forward-looking perspective to each conversation.
  • Integrate inputs across product, financial, and market domains to create a high-quality strategic planning narrative.
  • Oversee our long-range planning rhythm, aligning strategic goals with financial and operational execution.
  • Lead quarterly and annual strategic inputs for QBRs, AERM scorecards, and Board of Directors updates.
  • Build a unified planning framework that connects enterprise priorities with franchise-level decisions.
  • Guide EA's external lens across competitive, consumer, and commercial trends.
  • Lead a team responsible for developing insights that shape investor narratives, M&A scanning, forecasting inputs, and market sizing.
  • Partner with Data & Analytics (DnA) to translate behavioral insights into executive-ready narratives.
  • Ensure franchise plans integrate market trends, consumer shifts, and new technology developments (e.g., GenAI) alongside studio creative goals and technical capabilities.
  • Partner with Studio GMs and Presidents of EA SPORTS and Entertainment to evaluate product strategies, shape franchise direction, and prioritize investments and growth plans.
  • Guide the team in developing business cases, scenario planning, and strategic frameworks.
  • Oversee agreement of franchise strategies with financial planning, investor messaging, and enterprise-wide goals.
  • 15+ years of experience in strategic planning, management consulting, or enterprise-level strategic leadership.
  • Experience operating at VP-level or equivalent, influencing C-suite executives and leading successful teams.
  • Deep fluency in corporate planning processes, financial and commercial dynamics, and external market drivers.
  • Analytical Toolkit, with the ability to summarize diverse inputs into compelling strategy recommendations.
  • Experience managing diverse teams spanning strategy, analytics, and market intelligence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or related field.

You'll partner with senior leadership—across Finance, Publishing, Studios, and Corporate functions—to align our decisions with external realities and long-term goals. With leadership of three impactful teams, you will ensure that planning, intelligence, and execution connect into a cohesive strategic narrative that supports enterprise value creation.

Responsibilities:

Enterprise Planning and Influence

  • You will be the Strategy function's peer voice in EA's Integrated Business Planning (IBP) forums and other enterprise-level decision bodies.

  • Build a unified planning framework that connects enterprise priorities with franchise-level decisions.

Market & Commercial Intelligence

  • Guide EA's external lens across competitive, consumer, and commercial trends.
  • Lead a team responsible for developing insights that shape investor narratives, M&A scanning, forecasting inputs, and market sizing.
  • Partner with Data & Analytics (DnA) to translate behavioral insights into executive-ready narratives.

Business Unit Strategy

  • You will ensure franchise plans integrate market trends, consumer shifts, and new technology developments (e.g., GenAI) alongside studio creative goals and technical capabilities.

  • 15+ years of experience in strategic planning, management consulting, or enterprise-level strategic leadership.
