Job Description

Jane Street is seeking a Senior Workday HCM Specialist to join its global team, supporting Infrastructure and Technology. This role involves leading HCM system administration, optimizing processes through automation, and collaborating with Payroll, Tech teams, and HR system vendors. The specialist will provide global support, manage system workflows, resolve queries, conduct testing, design reports, ensure data accuracy, create documentation, facilitate training, monitor product releases, and oversee vendor relationships, contributing to the firm's HR technology needs.
Must have:
  • Define, measure, communicate, and execute program deliverables.
  • Maintain system workflows and business process approval chains.
  • Assist with system queries and issue resolution.
  • Manage and execute testing of new business processes, modifications, and updates.
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom reports and dashboard capabilities.
  • Manage audits and controls for system data accuracy.
  • Create and update supporting documentation.
  • Assist with identifying and facilitating end-user training.
  • Monitor upcoming product releases and assess new features.
  • Partner with technical counterparts to identify integrations for automation.
  • Oversee third-party vendors.
  • Manage special projects related to new functionality and system enhancements.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects providing Workday expertise.
  • Develop and execute an evolving Workday strategy.
  • Support governance activities for Workday changes.
  • 7+ years of HRIS/HCM system experience.
  • Workday experience.
  • Understand system design, configuration, administration, and security across HCM.
  • Knowledge of system integrations and data flow.
  • Familiarity with Payroll and Finance disciplines.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Analytical problem-solver.
  • Proficient in data visualization, developer, and data analytic tools (Tableau, Jira, Excel).
  • Discreet and capable of sound judgment with sensitive data.

About the Position

We are looking for a Senior Workday HCM Specialist to join our global team. Jane Street uses Workday to support our global Infrastructure and Technology teams, and its flexibility and performance are critical for our firm’s success. You will help lead our human capital management (HCM) system administration and maintenance, with a particular focus on finding ways to scale and optimize processes by automating Workday tasks and information. You’ll also work closely with members of our Payroll and Tech teams, as well as HR system vendors, to meet the HR technology needs of our firm.

We are a global team, which means your day-to-day work will include providing support and enhancements for our overseas offices. Additional responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Defining, measuring, communicating, and executing all program deliverables to stakeholders and project team members
  • Maintaining system workflows and business process approval chains
  • Assisting with all system queries and issue resolution
  • Managing and executing testing of new business processes, system modifications, and updates
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining custom reports and dashboard capabilities to support questions and requests from the business
  • Managing audits and controls that are in place to ensure accuracy of system data
  • Creating and updating supporting documentation, such as operational guides, end-user documents, quick guides, and FAQs
  • Assisting with identifying and facilitating end-user training
  • Monitoring upcoming product releases, reviewing release notes, assessing new features, and understanding their impacts on business processes and basic changes in functionality
  • Partnering with technical counterparts and business experts to identify integrations that support automation of processes and data flow
  • Overseeing third-party vendors and holding them accountable to schedules, deliverables, and quality of work across the platform
  • Managing special projects related to the testing, documentation, piloting, deployment, and communication of new functionality and system enhancements
  • Participating in cross-functional projects to provide Workday expertise and insights
  • Developing and executing an evolving Workday strategy that is current with business needs and technological capabilities
  • Mentoring junior team members
  • Supporting governance activities to ensure that Workday changes follow appropriate processes and approvals

About You

  • Preferably have a bachelor’s degree
  • Have 7+ years of HRIS/HCM system experience (Workday experience is required)
  • Understand system design, configuration, administration, and security across the full HCM product suite
  • Have knowledge of system integrations and how to ensure proper data flow of HRIS information to other systems
  • Familiar with Payroll and Finance disciplines and corresponding system functionalities
  • Can handle competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical problem-solver with an ability to organize and interpret data
  • Highly proficient in using data visualization, developer, and data analytic tools such as Tableau (or similar), Jira, and Excel
  • Discreet and capable of exercising sound judgment with sensitive and confidential company and personnel data
