Job Description

As a Strategic Workforce Planning Advisor, you will collaborate with health services to provide workforce modeling, budgeting, and strategic insights. This role involves helping clients understand the costs of new wards, balancing Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) with budgets, and supporting the implementation of safe staffing ratios. You will be responsible for workforce profiling and scenario planning, workforce budgeting and cost analysis, strategic advisory, software implementation and client support, and reporting and dashboards. This is a hands-on role, which requires a deep understanding of hospital operations and a desire to improve them.
Must have:
  • Experience in hospital or health service in workforce or finance
  • Strong skills in Excel and data interpretation
  • Understanding of clinical staffing models or budget frameworks
  • A collaborative mindset for engaging with various stakeholders

We’re looking for a Strategic Workforce Planning Advisor who understands the complexity of healthcare staffing and wants to make a broader impact. Join Health-e Workforce Solutions (HeWS) and help hospitals and health services plan and manage their workforce with greater precision utilising HeWS unique software.

 

About Health-e Workforce Solutions

We work with health services across Australia to improve how they manage their workforce. Our software and consultancy services support frontline and executive leaders to:

  • Build staffing profiles
  • Align rosters and budgets
  • Model service changes
  • Identify workforce risks and opportunities

The Role

Location: Ballarat CBD (Victoria)

Hours: Flexible – 24 to 38 hours per week

Salary: Up to $140K depending on experience

You’ll work directly with health services to deliver workforce modelling, budgeting, and strategic insights. You might help a Director of Nursing understand the cost of adding a new ward, assist a CFO in balancing FTEs with budget, or support a project team to implement safe staffing ratios.

This is a hands-on role for someone who gets how hospitals operate—and wants to help them work better.

 

Key Focus Areas

Workforce Profiling & Scenario Planning
Build staffing models based on activity, service levels, and budget constraints.

Workforce Budgeting & Cost Analysis
Analyse and forecast staffing expenditure across departments and programs.

Strategic Advisory
Provide data-driven advice to managers and executives on workforce options.

Software Implementation & Client Support
Support training, configuration, and rollout of HeWS software in health services.

Reporting & Dashboards
Create high-impact reports for executive teams and service managers.

 

We’d Love to Hear from You If You Have:

Experience in a hospital or health service in workforce, finance, operations, or HR

Strong skills in Excel and data interpretation

Understanding of clinical staffing models, budget frameworks, or safe staffing ratios (e.g. NHPPD, NMTPR)

A collaborative mindset—able to engage with NUMs, planners, and executive

Qualifications in Health Management, Finance, HR, or a related field would be advantageous, but not required.
