Animation Production Payroll Accountant

The Animation Production Payroll Accountant will handle the company’s Production Payroll function across multiple productions, preparing schedules and analyses, and reporting to corporate, production and clients on all matters related to production payroll. This role requires collaborating with various departments to ensure timely and accurate union and non-union payrolls, managing timecards, processing talent payments, maintaining payment schedules, creating journal entries, auditing, and responding to inquiries regarding payroll. The candidate should have experience with SAG/AFTRA, WGA, IATSE unions and preferably experience in Animation production.

The Production Payroll Accountant is responsible for handling the company’s Production Payroll function across multiple productions, preparing schedules and analyses, and reporting to corporate, production and clients on all matters related to production payroll.</div><div class="section page-centered"><div><h3>Job Responsibilities:</h3><ul class="posting-requirements plain-list"><ul><li>Collaborate with Producers/Production Staff, HR, Legal/BA, Managers and Production Accounting staff to ensure multiple timely and accurate union and non‐union payrolls, on a weekly and bi‐weekly basis, ensuring compliance with Company’s financial policies &amp; procedures, accurate recording of payroll, and proper funding</li><li>Work closely with third party payroll companies and in‐house payroll &amp; show accountants in processing, editing, approving, and releasing weekly production crew timecards, weekly above‐the‐line talent payroll, and managing any issues</li><li>Work closely with Business Affairs, Production, HR, and Finance Departments in gathering and analyzing appropriate contracts required to process talent payments</li><li>Prepare and maintain talent and crew payment schedules and obtain proper approvals from various departments</li><li>Maintain Payroll payment and detail tracking schedules, accruals, dismissal, and related schedules</li><li>Create journal entries to record or reclass costs</li><li>Audit, review, approve adjustments, and handle technical issues related to payroll processing</li><li>Respond to questions and provide information to HR, managers, and employees regarding pay, deductions, or the payroll process - including training, support, and documentation on policies and procedures to production and other departments</li><li>Provide support for internal departments and budgeting, and ad hoc reporting as needed</li><li>Perform internal audits of various payroll areas and prepare materials for external auditors</li><li>Maintain payroll files</li></ul></ul></div></div><div class="section page-centered"><div><h3>Qualifications:</h3><ul class="posting-requirements plain-list"><ul><li>Experience with SAG/AFTRA, WGA, IATSE (including Locals 839, 399, 700)</li><li>Experience with Union &amp; EP payroll process preferred</li><li>Animation production experience strongly preferred</li><li>Vista, V5, Workday and other office software skills preferred</li><li>Proficiency with Excel required</li><li>Please note, this is NOT a union position</li></ul></ul></div></div><div class="section page-centered" data-qa="salary-range"><div>$95,000 - $145,000 a year</div><div>Final salary offer is based on candidate experience.</div></div>
