Contract 3D Environment Artist (Remote)

Unchained Entertainment is seeking a Contract 3D Environment Artist to build, populate, and refine the world of Camelot Unchained. This role involves contributing to the visual quality, performance, and cohesion of in-game environments, from concept to implementation. The artist will collaborate with art, design, and engineering teams to create immersive and performant environments.

We are currently developing Camelot Unchained, a niche, RvR-focused, old-school MMORPG inspired by large-scale realm warfare and player-driven worlds.<h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Job Description</h2>We are looking for a 3D Environment Artist to help build, populate, and refine the world of Camelot Unchained. In this role, you will contribute to the visual quality, performance, and cohesion of our in-game environments, taking assets from concept through final implementation. You will collaborate closely with art, design, and engineering to bring immersive, performant environments to life.Responsibilities<ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Collaborate with the art team to create beautiful, cohesive, and performant environments and levels</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Create high-quality environment assets from concept to in-game implementation</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Work closely with art leads to identify and improve workflows, tools, and pipelines</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Partner with design and engineering throughout the environment development process</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Ensure assets meet visual, technical, and performance requirements</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Share knowledge and collaborate with fellow artists</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Qualifications</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">3+ years of professional experience as a 3D Environment Artist or in a similar role</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience creating organic assets such as trees, foliage, rocks, and terrain</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong prop creation skills, including structures, architectural elements, and world props</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong art fundamentals, understanding of form, scale, mass, color, composition, and lighting</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience building assets for real-time, in-game environments</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Ability and willingness to learn and work within a proprietary game engine</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Understanding of working within art and performance budgets</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Passion for games, especially MMORPGs</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong work ethic with a high sense of ownership and accountability</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Comfortable working remotely</li></ul>Bonus Qualifications<ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience with physically based rendering (PBR) workflows</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Interest or experience in procedural environment creation</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience using SpeedTree</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Additional Information</h2>If you are a talented, passionate, and experienced 3D Environment Artist looking for an exciting new opportunity, please apply with your resume and portfolio today!
