Job Description

This is a 10-week paid internship opportunity for a game art student to work on an unannounced project. The role involves creating in-game assets, participating in visual discussions, and contributing to the project alongside seasoned game developers. The work is primarily on-site in Guildford, UK for a minimum of three days a week, offering valuable experience in AAA game development. Responsibilities include asset creation, contributing to visual design discussions, and general support of the art team. The intern will learn industry standard pipelines, asset optimization, and team collaboration within a game development environment.
Good To Have:
  • Portfolio showing environment examples or hard surface modeling
  • Strong texturing and rendering skills
Must Have:
  • Unreal Engine 5 knowledge
  • UE5 asset integration
  • Proficiency in 3D software (Maya, Max, Blender)
  • Photoshop, Painter experience
  • Strong artistic eye for detail
  • Self-motivation & communication skills

Location: Guildford, UK 

Duration: 10 weeks; June - August 

Format: On-site (minimum of 3 days per week working from the office) 

Terms: Full-time, paid 

Eligibility: Candidates are required to hold valid work permit/visa at the time of the application and must be a student currently studying in UK

Overview: 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and creative game art student to experience working within an exceptional art team on a live project. Working alongside seasoned game developers, there is ample opportunity to learn, grow and contribute. Embedded in the Art team your day-to-day activities would range anywhere from creating in-game assets, discussing visual principals around a whiteboard, or printing out and displaying artwork. It’s a rare opportunity and would provide an invaluable look behind the curtain of AAA game development. 
 

What are we looking for? 

  • Unreal Engine (UE5) knowledge is essential – demonstratable through a strong portfolio; 
  • Knowledge of UE5 asset integration (shader set up and use of textures); 
  • Proficiency in 3D software, e.g. Maya, Max, Blender; 
  • Experience of using Photoshop, Painter;
  • A strong artistic eye for detail, color, value, tone, silhouette and lighting; 
  • Self-motivation, excellent communication skills and a positive team-player attitude; 
  • A passion for keeping up to date with current as well as future techniques.
