Job Description

As a 9Now Programming Manager in a contract role, you will lead and mentor a dynamic team to deliver content strategies across BVOD, AVOD, and FAST. You'll shape the editorial vision, strategically position content, and contribute to the future of streaming in Australia. The role involves leading the 9Now Programming team, owning the content strategy for FAST channels, planning VOD content, collaborating with various teams within Nine, and assessing content for platform suitability and compliance. This role requires a strong understanding of audience and revenue drivers in the Australian market, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This is a contract role running through to March 2026.
Must have:
  • Programming or content planning experience in television.
  • Strong knowledge of audience and revenue drivers in the Australian market.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to inform programming decisions.
  • High attention to detail, well organised, and strong editorial judgement.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and managing multiple priorities.
Good to have:
  • Familiar with Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, MyDrive) is beneficial

Job Description

9Now, at the heart of Nine’s values, sparks conversations and entertains Australians with live and on-demand access to their favourite programs—anytime, anywhere. The 9Now Programming and Operations team drives the content behind this powerful platform.

Join us as a 9Now Programming Manager in a contract role, where you’ll lead and mentor a dynamic team to deliver content strategies across BVOD, AVOD, and FAST—boosting audience engagement and commercial outcomes for some of Australia’s most iconic brands.

You'll shape the editorial vision, strategically position content, and help define the future of streaming in Australia. 

Day to day you will:

  • Lead and mentor the 9Now Programming team to deliver compelling FAST channel schedules aligned with content strategy and audience targets.
  • Own the content strategy for FAST channels, including partner relationships and programming decisions.
  • Drive VOD content planning to boost engagement, reach, and commercial performance.
  • Work with Acquisitions to ensure all rights and contractual obligations are met.
  • Collaborate with teams across Nine to maximise use of the content catalogue.
  • Coordinate with Linear Programming to manage BVOD windows and platform promotion.
  • Guide Marketing, Sales, Publicity, and Creative teams to support platform and FAST success.
  • Assess content for platform fit and compliance with Broadcast Standards.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring: 

  • Programming or content planning experience in television.
  • Strong knowledge of audience and revenue drivers across multiple genres in the Australian market.
  • Strategic thinker with creative flair, highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communicator with confident presentation skills across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to inform programming decisions.
  • High attention to detail, well organised, and strong editorial judgement.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and easy to work with across teams, time zones, and changing priorities.
  • Familiar with Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, MyDrive) is beneficial
  • High attention to detail, well-organised, and skilled in time management and prioritisation.

This is a contract role, running through to March, 2026
