Key responsibilities include technical support, content development using Ansys software, academic engagement through presentations, and contributing to program strategy. The role requires staying updated on educational trends and technological advancements to enhance academic interactions.
Must have:
  • BS or MS in Mechanical engineering/ Computational Mechanics
  • In-depth use of Ansys software or similar packages
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of engineers
Good to have:
  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in writing educational materials
  • Exposure to Ansys flagship products

Summary / Role Purpose

The Academic Program mechanical Engineer is responsible for leveraging professional and technical engineering skills to communicate the value of and assist educators, professors, and student teams in adopting Ansys technology in teaching, learning, and research at academic institutions. Aligned with the Ansys academic program which drives the long-term presence and growth of Ansys in engineering education and research, this role aims to significantly impact software adoption by creating teaching and learning content, conducting demonstrations, and delivering various forms of training sessions, wider community engagement, and networking events.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical support & pre-sales demonstrations: Interact with educators, researchers and academic institutions regularly to understand their educational and research needs and goals. Educate them on the features and capabilities of our products and our academic program within the discipline /area of expertise. This encompasses training sessions, guest lectures, workshops, user group meetings or Industry/academia days.
  • Content development: Using Ansys technology, develop effective and innovative curriculum materials that align with current pedagogical practices and educational standards. This includes lecture documents, tutorials, learning pathways, study guides, assessment libraries, education-focused apps and workflows, and certification programs.
  • Academic engagement: Prepare and deliver technical presentations at Ansys-led events, publications, conferences, and webinars. Establish or strengthen relationships with key academics, universities and engineering education organizations, education, and research consortia.
  • Strategy and roadmap contributions: Contribute to Ansys academic program projects, including but not limited to business operations, product development projects and collaborations, content roadmap reviews, or strategic initiatives such as healthcare and sustainability.
  • Engineering education watch and knowledge sharing: Stay up to date with current pedagogical practices, educational trends, and technological evolution to increase relevance in any form of academic interaction.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Education: BS or MS in Mechanical engineering/ Computational Mechanics
  • Experience:
    • For Bachelor's degree: 3 years of professional related to Mechanical engineering in industry or academia
    • For Master’s degree: 1 years of professional related to Mechanical engineering in industry or academia
  • Technical skills: In-depth use of Ansys software or other commercial software packages such as Ansys Mechanical, LS-Dyna, etc. or knowledge of other commercial software in Mechanical engineering (Structures, Structures + thermal, structures + fluids)
  • Professional skills:
    • Ability to work with a diverse and multicultural group of engineers and scientists, often located in different time zones
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency
    • Ability to interact effectively with professors and heads of departments at universities

 

Preferred additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: MS or PhD in in Mechanical engineering/ Computational Mechanics Experience:
    • For Master’s degree: 1 year of professional related to Mechanical engineering in industry or academia
    • For PhD degree: first experience accepted
  • Technical skills:
    • Exposure to teaching or education-related projects at the higher education level
    • Experience in writing educational materials or research articles, or in speaking at international conferences
    • Exposure to Ansys flagship products used in Engineering Degrees such as CFD for fluids, Mechanical for structures, Ansys Granta for materials, and so on.
    • Experience being part of engineering product development cycle is an added advantage
    • Experience in developing scripts, web solutions and applications using Python frameworks or similar

  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
