Job Description

As an Ansys Senior Application Engineer, you will support customers in electric machine applications, providing recommendations and solutions using Ansys software. This role involves technical sales support, professional services, training, and translating customer requirements into new product features. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to expand simulation solutions and industry knowledge, contributing to business growth.
Good To Have:
  • Preferred education and years of professional experience: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3.
  • Two years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
  • Proficient in workflow customization or automation using programming languages such as Python.
Must Have:
  • Lead the coordination and execution of all technical activities throughout the lifecycle of a sales opportunity.
  • Work independently, results-oriented, across teams and organizations.
  • Understand customer product development requirements and improve performance metrics.
  • Address application-specific design and simulation requirements utilizing relevant Ansys product technologies.
  • Support the development of differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform.
  • Collaborate with Ansys Product Development to translate customer requirements into new product features.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years (BS), 3 years (MS), or 0 years (PhD) of professional experience in an engineering software environment.
  • Two years of experience using electromagnetic simulation with Ansys Motor-CAD and Ansys Maxwell or similar tools.
  • Two years of experience with optimization and design workflows, including electromagnetic, thermal, and NVH analysis for electric machines.
  • Knowledge/Experience with control integration and system modeling with e-motors & drive train.
  • Fundamental understanding of physics phenomena and simulation methods related to magnetic design.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in English.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of time.

Summary / Role Purpose

As Ansys Senior Application Engineer, you will work with a variety of customers in electric machine related applications and give recommendations for improving your customers' product development. You will find solutions to their application engineering challenges, utilizing Ansys software and best practices in their design processes.

As a hands-on application expert for Ansys solutions in design and analysis of E-machines, you will provide technical sales support, deliver professional services, ensure customer productivity through training and methodology support, and help translate customer requirements into new product features.

You will work in multidisciplinary teams to contribute to end-to-end simulation solutions, expand your application domain and industry knowledge, and support the growth of the Ansys business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the coordination and execution of all technical activities throughout the lifecycle of a sales opportunity, e.g. technical discovery, negotiation of technical success criteria, product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations. Works independently, results-oriented, across teams and organizations.
  • As a credible hands-on expert in the customer's application, you will work with customers to better understand their product development requirements and what they need to improve their performance metrics. You will address application-specific design and simulation requirements by utilizing the relevant Ansys product technologies and platforms that best meet the customer's needs. You will internalize the Ansys value proposition and convince the customer of the compelling reasons to use Ansys tools.
  • Support the development of differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and our products; implement our Ansys solutions into your customers' design workflows. Expand your expertise and become a recognized expert in your field of application.
  • Collaborate with the Ansys Product Development to translate customer requirements into new product features; participate in the testing of new Ansys product releases, develop application best practices
  • Support the Ansys Field and Digital Marketing team by developing promotional materials and supporting events, author conference presentations.
  • Contribute to and lead professional service deliveries and conduct training classes.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0
  • Two (2) years of experience using electromagnetic simulation with Ansys Motor-CAD and Ansys Maxwell, or other commercial low frequency electromagnetic Finite Element simulation tools.
  • Two (2) years of experience with optimization and design workflows, including electromagnetic, thermal, and NVH analysis, for electric machines in automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications.
  • Knowledge/Experience with control integration and system modeling with e-motors & drive train.
  • Fundamental understanding of physics phenomena and simulation methods related to magnetic design, power loss and efficiency for different electromagnetic device topologies.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency
  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of time
