Job Description

Apple is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Audio to design precision assembly and measurement processes for their products. This role involves research and development of new technologies to address complex assembly and automation challenges that impact product quality and delivery. The engineer will design, implement, and scale automated solutions based on sound engineering principles. Responsibilities include developing new and improved processes, staying updated on technical trends, mentoring suppliers and contract manufacturers, leading technical aspects of projects, organizing cross-functional reviews, creating RFQs/RFPs, engaging suppliers for design reviews, traveling for equipment bring-up and support, driving machine qualification (correlation, capability, GR&R), leading failure analysis and issue resolution, running equipment experiments, and providing data analysis reports. The role also involves design for manufacturability and product engineering support throughout the product lifecycle.
Good To Have:
  • Knowledge of crafting machine qualification requirements, design of experiments, and failure analysis
  • Understanding of build tolerance analysis for parts and assemblies
  • Understanding of machine qualification including calibration, correlation, capability, repeatability, and reproducibility
  • Effective communication in a global environment
  • New product introduction and Manufacturing Operations experience
  • Proven track record of cost reduction, project management, and engineering design
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles
  • NX, SolidWorks CAD, or ProE experience
  • Working knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, servo motors, motion controllers, PLC, and PC-based control systems
  • Knowledge of optics principles related to cameras and lasers for positioning and alignment
  • Basic understanding of liquid adhesives, PSAs, and VHBs
  • JMP, Minitab, and Six Sigma experience
  • Master's degree
Must Have:
  • 8+ years of experience in precision assembly, inspection, and automation equipment
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field
