Job Description

As a Software Engineer at Motorola Solutions, you will be responsible for crafting advanced microprocessor-based digital communication systems. You will be involved in the full development lifecycle, from gathering requirements and conceptualizing the architecture to driving innovative solutions. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and perfect mobile applications. The role requires taking initiative, mentoring other engineers, effective communication, quick learning, and thriving in a distributed team environment.
Must have:
  • Actual Android development experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with Android UI frameworks and the Android OS.
  • In-depth experience with Android Studio and the Android SDK.
  • Proficiency in Java and Kotlin programming languages.
Good to have:
  • Experience with wireless device communication standards.
  • Experience/knowledge in mobile application software development tools.
  • Professional knowledge of REST, TCP/IP, SIP, RTP, HTTP, and UDP.
  • Experience with C and/or C++ and/or Java programming.

Innovation is the oxygen of our company, and in 2023, we invested more than US$850 million in research and development (R&D). We’re now opening a new Research & Development Centre in Cork, Ireland focused on designing software for the company’s comprehensive land mobile radio (LMR) portfolio, with plans for expansion across other technologies in the future.

    Additional Qualified Skills:

    • Actual Working Experience with Android UI frameworks and Android OS

    • In-depth experience with Android Studio and the Android SDK

    • Java and Kotlin are required.

    • Knowledge of C and/or C++ and/or Java programming.

    • Performance analysis and tuning experience including memory usage, CPU utilization, leak checking

    • Excellent debugging skills to solve challenging problems

    • Experience with wireless device to device communication standards (Bluetooth, BLE, NFC, WiFi, ProSe) is a plus.

    • Experience/knowledge in mobile application software development tools (e.g. GIT, JIRA…), testing, process (Agile, Kanban) and configuration management.

    • Professional knowledge of REST, TCP/IP, SIP, RTP, HTTP, and UDP is a plus.

    • Strong written and oral communication skills
