POSITION SUMMARY:
 

Company 3 / Method Inc currently has openings for a project hire an Animator, Sr. to work on projects within our VFX department. This position will be located in Santa Monica.

The perfect candidate needs to be a dependable, team player with a great attitude, and be flexible with our fast turnarounds. They will work closely with the VFX Supervisor and VFX Producer in achieving the highest creative and technical standards of work.

 

MAIN DUTIES:

The Animator, Sr. will lead the creation of high-quality 2D hand-drawn animation sequences, ensuring high-quality results that meet the creative vision of the project. They will work closely with VFX Supervisor to interpret and adapt storyboard designs into full animation sequences. They will demonstrate a range of soft skills including a creative eye, knowledge of animation theory, and solid teamwork skills. They will develop and refine animation techniques, ensuring all animations meet performance and style requirements. Other duties include:

• Troubleshoot animation problems and provide creative solutions to meet artistic and technical challenges.
• Provide expertise in maintaining traditional animation’s unique qualities while working in a digital environment.
• Collaborate in the creative process, offering input and ideas for enhancing visual storytelling.
• Communicate effectively with the production team and other artists as required.  

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience as a 2D Animator with a strong focus on traditional hand-drawn animation techniques. They will bring extensive experience in the visual effects industry or in animation for film, commercials, television, or games. They will bring exceptional skills in traditional 2D animation, including timing, keyframes, in-betweens, and understanding of character movement and expressions. The ideal candidate will also bring the following:

• Previous experience working in Commercial and/or Feature Film animation.
• Extensive knowledge of camera animation, physics and mechanical & organic motions.
• High level proficiency with Toon Boom, Blender, Grease Pencil, TVPaint, Adobe Animate, or similar (strong hand-drawing skills are paramount).
• You have a keen eye for aesthetic product framing/visualization.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
