Scopely is seeking an Art Director for their Monopoly GO! Game team. The role is hybrid, allowing work from European studios (Barcelona, Dublin, London, Sevilla) or remotely within the UK, Portugal, and Spain, with visa sponsorship and relocation assistance available. The Art Director will collaborate with artists, designers, producers, and product managers to define and execute visual direction, manage the art team, ensure high-quality creative material aligned with the game vision, and foster a strong art culture. The ideal candidate will have a portfolio showcasing a whimsical art style, extensive experience managing art teams, and a proven track record in art leadership roles, preferably in social or casual mobile games.

Scopely is looking for an Art Director to join our Monopoly GO! Game team working on a hybrid basis in one of our European studios (Barcelona, Dublin, London & Sevilla), or remotely within the UK, Portugal & Spain. We can support with visa sponsorship and relocation assistance, if needed.

Monopoly GO! is our casual game and a key franchise that has Scopely’s largest game, enjoyed by millions of players. The team is based in Canada, Europe and the US, and works every day to create captivating new experiences for our players.

What You Will Do 

You will work in a collaborative environment with our team of artists, designers, producers, and product managers  to explore, iterate, and set a clear visual direction. Responsibilities may include:

  • Work closely with the VP of Art to manage the art team and align in the vision
  • Facilitate collaboration across multiple art disciplines, 2D, UI, 3D, Anim, and VFX.
  • Manage the Live Operation vertical group as the key visual leader
  • Work closely with VP of Product to align and execute various strategies
  • Contribute to studio level planning for the team with the executive producer of the vertical group
  • Ensure all creative material is consistently aligned with the game vision and is of exceptional high quality
  • Support the brand through creative designs and unique experiences
  • Set clear art direction that includes innovative vision and creative flair while maintaining a diegetic design approach
  • Establish and drive an art culture that engages talent, maximizes team potential, and encourages proactive cross-discipline collaboration to deliver the best possible player experience
  • Lead creative brainstorms by engaging the artists to identify creative solutions/direction
  • Identify inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement within the creative process
  • Manage the art team through setting goals and conducting  performance reviews
  • Be responsible for the art team health including team morale, providing effective oversight of team training and resourcing needs

What We’re Looking For 

The ideal candidate will show a portfolio with a whimsical art style and have deep experience in managing a group of artists to deliver creative player experiences that align with the broader  project vision. We are looking for:

  • Excellent English language skills in order to lead an international team
  • Experience in managing a large group of artists of various disciplines
  • Shipped and supported at least one title as an Associate AD or AD
  • Proven experience in a key art leadership role [Associate AD or above]
  • Experience in developing social games on mobile platforms, with a preference to casual space
  • Highly skilled at providing clear direction, guidance and mentoring tailored to the various skill levels of team members
  • An eye for detail, able to apply expert level art judgment on form, perspective, color, style, composition and movement in a way which gives the confidence and authority to own the art quality
  • Proven to be flexible, highly motivated and approachable
  • Deep understanding of how game art/visual design supports gameplay, UX, narrative and brand positioning / marketing
  • Ability to communicate and propagate the artistic vision throughout the studio and deliver concise, upwards feedback to GM, executives and the wider business
