Create adorable, cute Virtual Pets for mobile

BitPet is a virtual pet game that has been in development for five years to prove the concept of the game. We are now looking to improve the visual style and enhance the already existing pets and their environment. A 3D artist will work together with an Art Director and the developer team.

Role and Responsibilities

We’re seeking a highly creative and experienced Art Director for a short-term contract to design 3–5 new BitPets (e.g. dogs and cats). Firstly, you will define the art direction of our pets and make sure they stand out with personality, charm, and maximum cuteness. Secondly, you’ll make the rest of the game assets fit this style.

In addition to concepting new pets, you’ll:

• Sketch and define the visual direction for key animations (e.g. how a pet expresses excitement or sadness)

• Design accessories and clothing items to dress up the pets

• Refine visual elements like UI and environments to ensure everything fits together beautifully

• Collaborate with our 3D artists to bring your concepts to life in-game
   

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience designing cute animals or creatures for 3D games

• Experience with mobile games and developing art styles optimized for such devices

• Strong understanding of character design, shape language, and visual appeal

• Ability to sketch and communicate ideas for expressive animations

• Experience guiding a cohesive art direction across multiple parts of a game
   

Contract Details

• Start: ASAP

• Scope: Initial batch of 3–5 pets in their environment, with possibility of more. 

• Location: Remote

• Duration: Short-term freelance, with potential for ongoing collaboration
