The Home team is looking for an Assistant Editor to help manage the team, guide the digital news report and use our platforms to build stronger relationships with readers.
As our Assistant Editor, you will set the lineups for our home screens, oversee messaging, and direct and implement the framing and targeting of our stories for a variety of audiences and platforms. You will also help us maintain a sharp focus on short- and long-term goals, and help build a culture that prizes creativity, collaboration and initiative.
We are a team that works at the speed of the news, so we need an editor who believes in our mission, is passionate and knowledgeable about what's happening in the world and is eager to work in a fast-paced environment. As our team's remit expands, including scaling our international home screen to a 24/7 schedule and rethinking the tools we use to plan and program all of our surfaces, the role of our assistant editors is more critical than ever. They are important partners to our colleagues in technology, product and design on evolving forms of journalism and the platforms that deliver it to our audience.
This is a hybrid position based in Los Angeles and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance. The schedule will include at least one weekend day.
