The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Cineplex is a key team member responsible for ensuring an exceptional guest experience. This role involves executing company programs, supporting business operations, managing revenue and payroll budgets, and maintaining high standards of quality and service. The AGM fosters a positive culture, focuses on team building through coaching and feedback, and thrives in a fast-paced, social environment. Responsibilities include supporting the General Manager with P&L accountability, managing Groups & Events, ensuring cleanliness and safety, and talent management through recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
Must have:
  • Support General Manager with profit and loss accountability.
  • Manage operations through execution excellence of Groups & Events.
  • Manage inventory and shrinkage of designated departments.
  • Achieve operational objectives by preparing and completing action plans.
  • Implement productivity and quality measures and service standards.
  • Ensure facility meets cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Maintain working knowledge of statutory regulations affecting restaurant health and safety.
  • Identify and rectify safety hazards.
  • Manage talent through recruitment, training, and development strategies.
  • Conduct succession planning, goal-setting, and performance evaluations.
  • Improve departmental turnover and increase employee morale.

What you will do:

Assistant General Manager – TRR

Our Assistant General Managers (AGM) are an integral part of the team who provide an exceptional experience to each and every guest. The Assistant General Manager executes all company programs, supports the operation of the business, maintains revenue and payroll budgets, and meets budgeted productivity while keeping quality and service consistently high. It is important for the Assistant General Manager to have both a vision and the ability to maintain a culture of hospitality and positive morale, and a focus on building their team complement through regular coaching and feedback. In this role, your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting the General Manager with the location’s accountability for the profit and loss performance of the venue against budget
  • Managing operations through execution excellence of Groups & Events within the venue, and managing the inventory and shrinkage of all designated departments
  • Achieving operational objectives by preparing and completing action plans, implementing productivity and quality measures, and standards of service
  • Ensuring the facility consistently meets required cleanliness and safety standards and maintaining a working knowledge of all statutory regulations affecting restaurant health and safety, ensuring that any safety hazards are identified and rectified
  • Talent management through recruitment, training and development strategies for employees, succession planning, goal-setting and performance evaluations, as well as improving departmental turnover and increasing employee morale by creating a supportive employee-centered environment

Qualifications:

This role may be a perfect fit for you if:

  • You have a post-Secondary education, in business and/ or hospitality preferred.
  • You have 3-5 years of experience managing a high-volume restaurant or venue with full Profit and Loss accountability.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams with experience in training, coaching, and mentoring managers, and employees.
  • You have a strong working knowledge of restaurant industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
  • You have knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques.
  • You have exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills.
  • You are an effective communicator both verbally and in writing, and are comfortable with attending and conducting presentations.
  • You have schedule flexibility to work flexible hours inclusive of evenings and weekends as required.
  • Provincially applicable sell, sale, and handling of alcohol certificate.
