Job Description

The Morningstar Indexes team creates innovative investment solutions using expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction. This role, an Associate Indexes Client Experience Analyst, is based in Mumbai and operates during the morning shift (5:30 am to 2:30 pm, Tuesday to Saturday). The primary function is to support Indexes clients and the sales group by providing data, research, and analytics for over 700 unique Morningstar indexes across various asset classes. This individual contributor role involves working independently to provide continuous global coverage, offering exposure to both back-end index operations and front-end client interaction.

  • Respond to client and sales queries on Morningstar Indexes.
  • Support sales with presentations, marketing, data, and analytics.

  • Monitor daily index calculation and ensure dissemination.
  • Resolve issues with vendors.
  • Automate manual tasks with RPA team.
  • Create self-help modules on Morningstar Direct.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Management, or Economics.
  • Strong interest in Finance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, SQL, and Python basics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to collaborate and meet tight deadlines.

The Area

Morningstar Indexes team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses Morningstar`s intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors to achieve their goals at every stage of the investment process - market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity and asset allocation indexes.

The Role

Morningstar Indexes seeks an intelligent and creative professional for its Center of Excellence in Product Operations team during morning shift (5-30 am to 2-30 pm, Tuesday to Saturday). The primary function of the team is to support Indexes clients and sales group by providing data, research and analytics for more than 700 unique Morningstar indexes across asset classes (Equity, Fixed Income, Alternatives, Multi-Asset). This is an individual contributor role, and the selected candidate will work independently outside of the Chicago and Mumbai hours to provide continuous coverage to Morningstar Indexes global sales and clients. This role provides a balanced exposure to both back-end index operations and front-end, either directly or through sales organization.

Responsibilities

  • Be a product expert on Morningstar Indexes to satisfactorily respond to client and sales related queries with quick turnaround time
  • Enable sales team with presentations, marketing collaterals, data, research & analytics
  • Coordinate with internal teams (like Product Management, Operations) and prospective clients to launch and operationalize Morningstar Indexes
  • Oversee daily publishing and deliveries of end of day index values, portfolios and other files to internal and external clients and third parties in a timely manner
  • Monitor daily index calculation and ensure seamless dissemination of daily files.
  • Work with vendors, escalate and work with them to resolve issues
  • Work with Robotic Process Automation team within Morningstar to automate manual tasks and further streamline the process
  • Create self-help modules/templates on Morningstar Direct to equip sales and service teams to quickly respond to general data related queries on their own.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Management, Economics, etc. and a strong interest in Finance.
  • Some progress towards CFA/FRM is preferable.
  • Comfortable with basics of MS Office, SQL and Python
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with the global team and deliver quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
