The Bioinformatics Engineer will join the DRAGEN Team, focusing on developing automated test infrastructure and bioinformatics tools. Responsibilities include leading testing efforts for data analysis software, designing and implementing automated software verification frameworks, collaborating with bioinformatics scientists for data analysis and tool development, participating in code and design reviews, ensuring software development life cycle procedures are followed, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with relevant programming languages, automated verification frameworks, bioinformatics, and Linux environments.
Must have:
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with high level programming languages (Python, Java, C#, or C++)
  • Experience in designing or architecting automated verification frameworks
  • Understanding or interest in Bioinformatics, Genomics, or related fields
  • Ability to work in a Linux environment
Good to have:
  • Experience with CI/CD and related tools
  • Experience with cloud technologies

Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly driven and talented software engineer or bioinformatics engineer to join the DRAGEN Team.

The team focus on developing automated test infrastructure and bioinformatics tools to analyze large genomic datasets, setting up a CI/CD and improving the databases and websites that we use for the verification activities.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work independently in cross-functional teams to lead the testing effort for data analysis software

  • Design and implement automated software verification framework and scripts

  • Work with bioinformatics scientists for data analysis, trouble shooting, and bioinformatics tool development.

  • Participate in Code and Design Reviews

  • Ensure Software Development Life Cycle procedures are followed

  • Collaborate with peers to identify opportunities for process improvement

Requirements: 

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals is required

  • Experience in developing software applications utilizing a high level language such as Python, Java, C# or C++ is preferred  

  • Experience in designing or architecting automated verification framework and tests is preferred

  • Have a good understanding or interest in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Oncology or related field

  • Be able to work in a Linux environment

  • Experience with CI/CD and related tools is preferred  

  • Experience with cloud technologies is preferred

  • Be curious, detail oriented, and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly

  • Be customer-focused, team-oriented, and motivated, taking ownership of assigned tasks

  • Have proven ability to self-manage, as well as manage interdisciplinary relationships

  • Good verbal and written communication and troubleshooting skills
