The Broadcast Engineer will support broadcast operations, ensuring the functionality of studio systems and providing technical support during live events. This temporary contract role, running from April 2025 through the end of July 2025, involves daily tasks, troubleshooting, and collaboration with production and engineering teams. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing broadcast systems, including Dante, Ross, intercom systems, PTZ cameras, and camera robotics, and is expected to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. The role requires proactive identification of potential system issues, the development of mitigation strategies, and the ability to communicate critical incidents to stakeholders. The candidate will also assist in the design and setup of new systems or upgrades, with an emphasis on optimizing studio and control room workflows.
Must have:
  • 4+ years of Broadcast Engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Dante, Ross, and intercom systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work on-site in Central London.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Windows Servers and Mac OS.
  • Knowledge of SMPTE television standards.
  • Familiarity with content management systems.
  • Ability to travel locally (5-10%).

We are looking for:  

Advanced Systems Group LLC. is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to join our high-performing team and support broadcast operations, ensuring the continued functionality of all studio broadcast systems, and provide technical support during live events.This position involves daily operational tasks, troubleshooting technical issues, and working closely with production and engineering teams to ensure seamless broadcasts. We are looking for a highly-organized, collaborative and results-oriented troubleshooter to join the team. This role also includes strategic involvement in the planning, implementation, and ongoing support of broadcast systems and infrastructure, with an emphasis on high-level technical troubleshooting and system optimization.
 
This temporary role is contracted from April 2025 through the end of July 2025. This role may extend or convert to FTE.
 
We are actively interviewing candidates this month and intend to identify a final candidate by the end of April 2025.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide broadcast support engineering during weekly AM, PM, and weekend shifts.
  • Provide proactive strategic support in planning and configuring broadcast systems to align with evolving production requirements and technological advancements.
  • Work with multiple engineering teams, IT, and production groups to resolve complex, high-priority technical issues in real-time
  • Exercise independent judgment to troubleshoot and implement immediate solutions during live events.
  • Assist in the design and setup of new systems or upgrades to existing systems, with an eye toward optimizing studio and control room workflows.
  • Proactively identify potential system issues, develop mitigation strategies.
  • Respond to broadcast operations incidents and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the continued function and stability of studio broadcast systems, including Dante, Ross (Carbonite, Ultrix), intercom systems (RTS, Clearcom), PTZ cameras, and camera robotics.
  • Maintain change logs and records of all systems for accountability and future troubleshooting.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of control rooms and studios to ensure equipment and systems are functioning optimally.
  • Communicate critical or high-impact incidents to stakeholders, providing visibility and updates on resolution efforts.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment between engineering objectives and production goals, recommending technology changes or operational improvements to senior stakeholders.
  • Support ongoing broadcast operations and engineering (BAU) tasks, ensuring smooth and continuous broadcasts. 
  • Execute project plans to implement or configure broadcast systems as needed and provide strategic support in building said plans.
  • Provide end-of-shift updates and document updates/changes in the Engineering standup board. 
  • Attend daily engineering stand ups to update the team on task progress and be briefed on new projects or priorities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Engineering, TV/Video Production, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Broadcast Engineering, particularly in a live environment (TV, Live Streaming, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Dante, Ross (Carbonite, Ultrix), intercom systems (RTS, Clearcom), PTZ cameras, and camera robotics.
  • Experience with Windows Servers, Mac OS, and Yamaha Mixers.
  • Strong knowledge of SMPTE television standards and video/audio/lighting technologies in a studio environment.
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems, Broadcast Audio/Video Systems, Control Systems, Video Servers, Storage Area Networks, RF Systems, Editing, and Post-Production Systems.
  • Understanding of electronics and IT systems related to broadcast production.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear updates to stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy of work and documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams, including engineering, production, technical operations, and network operations, to ensure seamless support and resolution of technical issues. 
  • Ability to work on-site from client studio in Central London.
  • Ability to work morning, evening, weekend shifts, and holidays, as well as work in a variety of environmental conditions (indoor and outdoor) based on event needs.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 22 kilo with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to travel locally as needed, approximately 5-10%.

Compensation & Benefits:  

This full-time role offers a salary of £40,000-50,000 (prorated throughout contract duration) depending on experience. This role is eligible for statutory benefits.
