BlackMill Games is looking for an experienced Cinematic Artist with a passion for history to work on our series of WW1-themed multiplayer first-person shooters. You will be responsible for creating exciting trailers, game assets and marketing material alongside the Creative Director and the Art Director to meet the thematic, stylistic, and quality standards set for our projects.
Create game trailers and other video content, working directly in-engine (Unity 6)
Create clear documentation and guides for other team members to learn from.
Create simple 2D marketing content (banner, thumbnail,...)
As a cinematic artist, you have worked on at least one shipped title.
Good understanding of requirements for the various types of game video content (tutorials, trailers, promotional material on socials)
You understand how to handle the production of video content:
Understand and follow provided briefs.
Be able to produce animatics and adjust based on feedback from stakeholders.
Be able to hit strict deadlines whilst ensuring high-quality output.
Be able to take the initiative to impose your own style/ideas.
Be able to mix audio and music to moving images
You have a good understanding of cinematography to create well-established shots
You know how to use pacing in video content
Experience with video editing:
Good experience with editing together videos in industry standard
Experience with Video Post-Production software (DaVinci Resolve, Adobe After-Effects, etc)
In Unity 6:
Basic understanding of using the Unity Editor.
Experience with Unity’s Animation systems.
Experience with Unity’s Timeline, Cinemachine and Recording packages.
You have a good understanding about composition, color and lighting
2D software
Being able to create simple marketing assets such as banners and thumbnails.
Basic understanding of version control software.
Previous remote work experience
Professional set-up (powerful computer, large SSD, fast internet...)
Being able to legally invoice a Dutch company
Only candidates with a registered company or freelance status will be considered
Timezone should not differ more than 4 hours from Amsterdam (UTC-3 - UTC+5).

Available for 32-40 hours per week.

Unity 6:
Experience with using Particle System and VFX Graphs.
Experience with prefabs.
Be able to suggest or create improvements to our custom tooling.
Experience with 3D modelling + animation tooling (Blender, Maya, etc)
Experience with Audio software (FMOD, Audition etc.)
Ability to handle audio mixing
Extensive experience in personal projects / machinima videos

The WW1 Game Series is a series of intense multiplayer first-person shooters delivering authentic and immersive First World War action on PC and Console. The series contains Verdun (2015), Tannenberg (2019), and Isonzo (2022).
