Job Description

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Component Development Engineer for Low Voltage Connectors. This role involves leading the development of assigned components or systems, ensuring compliance with Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Performance (QCDP) objectives. The engineer will prepare supplier consultation packages, analyze responses, manage project deliverables, and oversee the development of LV connectors. Responsibilities also include co-developing components with suppliers, ensuring technical feasibility, reviewing DFMEA, coordinating prototype deliveries, and supporting assembly plants through production launch.
Must Have:
  • Lead the development of assigned components or systems, ensuring compliance with Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Performance (QCDP) objectives.
  • Prepare supplier consultation packages (Sourcing Packages) for LV connectors.
  • Analyze supplier responses and draft Technical Supplier Assessments (TSA).
  • Manage project deliverables aligned with key milestones.
  • Oversee the development of LV connectors to meet QCDP objectives.
  • Co-develop components with suppliers, including quality tracking (e.g., APQP).
  • Ensure technical feasibility, manufacturability, and design robustness.
  • Review Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and support Process FMEA (PFMEA).
  • Coordinate prototype deliveries at each project phase.
  • Lead technical reviews and purchasing meetings with suppliers.
  • Ensure proper integration of LV connectors within the vehicle/platform environment.
  • Manage technical changes and maintain related documentation.
  • Support assembly plants from pilot builds through production launch.
  • Drive product and process validation plans (DV, PV).
  • Maintain technical configuration and manage deliverables across the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Actively participate in crisis management and issue resolution.
  • Support the development of technical policies related to LV connectors.
  • Applying LL and design best practies across multiple family of LV connectors
  • Draft technical specifications, ensure supplier compliance, and manage design interfaces.
  • Handle design, validation, industrialization, and launch phases.
  • Functionally manage internal and external Engineering Designers.

Main Mission:

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Full responsibility for a family of complex components.
  • Draft specifications, ensure supplier compliance, manage design interfaces.
  • Lead design, validation, industrialization, and launch phases.
  • Functionally manage internal or external Engineering Designers.

Working Relationships:

  • Hierarchical: Reports to the Discipline Manager.
  • Operational: Collaborates with SSTL, Quality, purchasing, vehicle architecture, and support functions.
  • External: Manages component development with suppliers and external testing labs.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of automotive engineering, mechanical systems, electronics, and functional safety.
  • Proven experience with LV connectors and wiring harnesses
  • Profiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Professional fluency in English (minimum B2 level) – capable of leading meetings with international teams..
