Job Summary
The Power Inverter Module Innovation Leader will be responsible for the activities related to Power Electronics components (i.e. inverters, converters and charging devices) designs and development. This role requires expertise in power electronics, adherence to TRL processes, and collaboration with internal teams and suppliers to ensure design specifications and industry best practices are met. The specialist will also contribute to documentation of best practices and technology roadmaps, requiring strong design experience, understanding of hardware circuitry, failure modes, and manufacturing processes.
Must Have
- Lead design and development of Power Electronics components (inverters, converters, charging devices).
- Act as subject matter expert on power electronics.
- Follow corporate Technology Readiness Level (TRL) process.
- Ensure and document aligned requirements and assess technology.
- Work with internal production, PMO, purchasing, cost engineering teams, suppliers, and testing labs.
- Ensure requirements, specifications, industry best practices are implemented.
- Design experience in power electronics.
- Understand component hardware circuitry and failure modes.
- Understand manufacturing process.
- Create and maintain documentation for continuous improvement.
- Develop product technology roadmaps.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Mechatronics/Systems/Mechanical Engineering.
- 8+ years experience in high voltage/high power/electric vehicle environments.
- 3+ years Power Inverter/Traction Inverter development experience.
- Familiarity with power electronics and devices.
- Knowledge of engineering protocols, design specifications, and standards.
- Knowledge of DVP&R and DFMEA.
- Familiarity with Power Electronics analysis and simulation tools.
Good to Have
- Master or Ph. D. of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Expertise in power electronics specifications.
- Experience in electric motor and powertrain controls.
- Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and fabrication experience.
- Semiconductor manufacturing knowledge.

- The Power Inverter Module Innovation Leader will be responsible for the activities related to Power Electronics components (i.e. inverters, converters and charging devices) designs and development.
- This position requires the candidate to be a subject matter expert on related power electronics topic, and follow corporate Technology Readiness Level (TRL) process, ensure and document aligned requirements, make assessment on the technology; it also entails working with Client internal production team, Program Management Organization (POM) team, advanced purchasing team, cost engineering team, power electronics suppliers, and testing labs to ensure requirements and specifications are followed, as well as industry best practice design features and processes, are implemented.
- This position requires design experience, understanding of component hardware circuitry and failure modes, and understanding the manufacturing process.
- Additionally, this position will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation outlining best practices supporting STLA internal continuous improvement initiatives and the development of product technology roadmaps.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical / Mechatronics / Systems /Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in high voltage/high power/electric vehicle environments Power electronics/electrical models and simulation experience
- 3+ years of Power Inverter/Traction Inverter development experience
- Demonstrable familiarity of power electronics and devices
- Understand engineering protocols, design specifications and standards
- Understand component HW circuitry and failure modes
- Good technical knowledge in applications engineering and product design/development (specifically within an automotive context)
- Good working level knowledge of DVP&R and DFMEA
- Good analytical, problem-solving skills and methodology
- Familiar with Power Electronics analysis and simulations tools
- Highly motivated and self-starter
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to interface professionally with key customers, cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills Able to manage multiple responsibilities, one's own time while being mindful of deadlines Must be task oriented, detail oriented, and accurate with work.
