Job Description
Our Mission:
Driving technology always feels old. Not by a little bit. We believe vehicles can be a thousand times smarter, safer, and more connected to the world around us, and our mission is to see it happen. In 2019, we joined forces with Honda as their first startup acquisition, and now we’re expanding our vision into building the future of electric vehicles (BEV) for millions of people around the world.
Why Drivemode:
Join Drivemode for an exciting startup environment and a vibrant culture that combines impactful work, competitive compensation, and excellent benefits. By becoming a part of our team, you'll contribute to a crucial mission that revolutionizes the way people engage with vehicles, addressing both business needs and the world's environmental challenges. This presents an exceptional opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation and drive Honda's success in the EV market.
About the Role:
We are looking for talented and detail-oriented Requirements Engineers to join our engineering team to support us with compliance and requirements management. You’ll play a critical role in defining, managing, and verifying requirements for complex automotive software systems — ensuring that every feature and process meets our technical, safety, cybersecurity, and ASPICE compliance standards.
This role sits at the intersection of system architecture, engineering process, and release governance, and is responsible for ensuring every release meets functional, quality, and regulatory expectations.
What You Will Do
- Define, analyze, and document requirements across multiple domains (functional, non-functional, safety, and cybersecurity).
- Translate stakeholder and regulatory needs into clear, testable, and traceable specifications.
- Maintain bidirectional traceability between stakeholder needs, system design, implementation, and verification artifacts.
- Collaborate with System Architects to ensure architectural feasibility and alignment with compliance requirements.
- Work with the Process Managers to ensure all requirements meet ASPICE process quality and pass defined release gates.
- Support change control and impact analysis during requirement updates and baselining.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing traceability and verification evidence.
- Drive consistency in documentation and adherence to ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, and ASPICE frameworks.
- Collaborate with test and verification teams to ensure all requirements are verifiable and validated.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the requirement management and release processes.
- What You’ll Work On
- Functional Requirements: System behaviors, interfaces, diagnostics, OTA, or infotainment features.
- Non-Functional Requirements: Performance, latency, resource utilization, reliability, maintainability.
- Safety & Cybersecurity Requirements: Compliance with ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434, risk and hazard tracking.
- Traceability & Tooling: Management of ALM, configuration control, compliance dashboards.
- Verification & Audit Support: Work with testing teams to ensure full requirements coverage exists.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in requirements engineering, systems engineering, or compliance-driven software development.
- Hands-on experience with requirements management tools (IBM DOORS, Jama Connect, Polarion, or similar).
- Familiarity with automotive standards such as ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, and Automotive SPICE.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (V-model, Agile, or hybrid).
- Excellent documentation and communication skills in English (Japanese a plus).
Nice to Have
- Experience working on embedded or automotive software (infotainment, connectivity, or ADAS).
- Knowledge of vehicle network protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
- Experience preparing audit evidence or participating in ASPICE/FUSA assessments.
- Understanding of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) or SysML/UML.

- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Comfortable managing complexity and ambiguity in cross-functional environments.
