The Intermediate Concept Artist at Reflector Entertainment will join a passionate team in Montreal, crafting innovative experiences for Bandai Namco properties. Reporting to the Art Director, this role involves producing concept art in a collaborative environment, maintaining artistic style, and contributing to project development. Responsibilities include creating environment concepts, game models, and ensuring visual intentions align with team expectations. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience, strong drawing and digital illustration skills, and knowledge of the video game industry.
Must have:
  • Collaborate with the team to establish project style and participate in artistic production.
  • Maintain consistent artistic style as directed by the Art Director and make revisions.
  • Learn from more experienced team members and apply knowledge gained daily.
  • Participate in the resolution of artistic problems under senior artists' supervision.
  • Effectively communicate information and management decisions to other team members.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of artistic working methods.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure artistic work aligns with team expectations.
  • Create environment concepts and game models, focusing on lighting and post-processing effects.
  • Effectively communicate visual intentions of work to other artistic team members.
  • Support the lead artist and/or art director in related duties as required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a similar position or relevant portfolio/projects.
  • Knowledge of data management software (including Perforce).
  • Participated in at least one game as an illustrator.
  • Good drawing and conceptualization skills, adaptable to a defined style.
  • Good knowledge of Photoshop, digital illustration, and 2D/3D software.
  • Good observation and research techniques.
  • Good knowledge of the video game industry and development processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong communication skills in French and English.

YOUR IMPACT

Reporting directly to the Art Director, the Intermediate Concept Artist will thrive in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. Their role will be to produce concept arts in close collaboration with the creative department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the team to help establish the style of the project and participate in the artistic production (environment, characters, user interface, etc.).
  • Maintain a consistent artistic style as directed by the Art Director and make revisions as required.
  • Learn from more experienced team members and apply the knowledge gained in daily work.
  • Participate in the resolution of artistic problems under the supervision of senior artists.
  • Effectively communicate information and management decisions to other team members.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of artistic working methods.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure that the artistic work is in line with the team's expectations.
  • Create environment concepts and game models, with a particular focus on lighting and post-processing effects.
  • Effectively communicate the visual intentions of his/her work to other members of the artistic team.
  • Support the lead artist and/or art director in related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Certificate or diploma

  • Design and Applied Arts (Other)
  • Arts/Art Studies (General)
  • Fine and Plastic Arts (Other)

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar position, where you have been able to develop your skills or portfolio/projects relevant to the position
  • Knowledge of data management software (including Perforce)
  • Have participated in at least one game as an illustrator

Technical skills:

  • Good drawing and conceptualization skills and ability to adapt to a defined style
  • Good knowledge of Photoshop, and good digital illustration skills, and practice with 2D and 3D software
  • Good observation and research techniques

General skills:

  • Good knowledge of the video game industry and awareness of typical video game development processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong communication skills in French and English, both oral and written.
