Job Description

As a Cutscene Animator for WWE 2K, you will be responsible for creating compelling facial performances and cinematic animation. You will work closely with a team to ensure characters perform perfectly and deliver impactful cinematic moments. You will create body and facial animations, animate characters, cameras, and props in cutscenes. You will also work with technical artists and engineers to ensure characters look great in-game. Collaboration with other animators and implementing animation in the game are also part of the responsibilities.
Must have:
  • Proven animation experience in the games industry.
  • Portfolio of character animation work (keyframe or motion capture).
  • Ability to collaborate with designers and animators.
  • Ability to take direction well.
  • Self-motivated, creative problem solver.
  • Must have current U.S. work authorization.
  • Love for video games.
Good to have:
  • Experience editing motion capture animation data.
  • Experience composing and animating cameras in a cinematic style.
  • Proficient in the use of Motionbuilder and Maya.
  • Experience working with outsourcing.
  • An eye for quality and technical details, and enjoys giving feedback.

What We Need:

Do you think one frame at a time? Can you supercharge meaning into an animated performance, with everything from explosive reactions to subtle expressions? Do you view animation as player input, expression, emotion and reward all wrapped together?

We’re seeking an experienced character animator to help us build the next installment of the WWE2K franchise. You’ll be responsible for creating entertaining compelling facial performances and cinematic animation. You will work closely with a wide array of teammates to ensure that your characters perform perfectly, look amazing, and deliver raw emotion and impactful cinematic moments.

WWE2K is an exciting and ambitious game with a diverse set of features and requirements. You will grow and develop in many different areas, learning from a highly skilled team while working on powerful technology. We are open to candidates who consider themselves game-makers, regardless of platform or development, tool, or backend focus. What You Will Do:

  • Create body and facial animations using motion capture data and keyframe animation
  • Animate characters, cameras and props in cutscenes to deliver high impact moments
  • Achieve maximum clarity, performance and responsiveness, so the game looks and feels amazing
  • Work with technical artists and engineers to ensure characters look as great in-game as on your desktop
  • Collaborate with other members of the animation team to create consistent work and share inspiration
  • Implement and tune animation in game in our proprietary animation system

 

Who Will Be A Great Fit:

  • Proven experience as an animator for the games industry
  • Portfolio of character animation work (keyframe, motion capture or both)
  • Ability to collaborate and work side by side with a team of designers and animators
  • Ability to take direction well
  • Self-motivated, creative problem solver
  • Must have current U.S. work authorization
  • Love for video games (not just ours!)

 

Helpful additions:

  • Experience editing motion capture animation data

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be up to $35.00 per hour. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
