Job Description

As a Lead Cyber Security Engineer, you will protect Qualcomm from cyberattacks, data breaches, and insider threats. Your primary responsibilities include designing, analyzing, and validating secure architectural solutions for enterprise and cloud environments, creating secure architectural patterns, and identifying systemic improvements. You will act as a security evangelist, driving company-wide hardening initiatives and representing the information security group. This collaborative role involves continuous learning, sharing, and cross-training with red and blue teams, requiring broad expertise in Information Security, strong technical writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills in a rapidly evolving environment.
Must have:
  • Protect Qualcomm from data breaches, hacking attempts, targeted and insider threats.
  • Design, analyze, and validate architectural solutions and implementations.
  • Create secure architectural patterns for enterprise and cloud environments.
  • Find and highlight opportunities for broad or systemic security improvements.
  • Be a security evangelist, driving company-wide environment hardening initiatives.
  • Represent the information security group throughout Qualcomm.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units for security assessments and threat models.
  • Provide security recommendations on existing and new applications, systems, and network architectures.
  • Establish alternative security measures for business continuity and asset protection.
  • Develop and advise on best practices around cloud platforms.
  • Track data security findings to closure by partnering with business units.
  • Perform risk analysis for corporate functional & technical areas and 3rd party providers.
  • Act as a mentor and provide guidance and technical leadership to other staff members.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT, Cyber Security, or related area.
  • 3+ years of experience with Programming Languages (Python, JavaScript, C, C++, Java).
  • 4+ years of experience in software and/or application testing.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience with major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • 2+ years of leadership role in projects/programs.
  • 2+ years’ experience developing and/or assessing IT architectural designs.
  • 5+ years of cyber security experience in Networking, Web applications, Cryptography fundamentals, OS Hardening.
  • Experience with OIDC/OAuth token exchange & On Behalf Of, basic scripting and automating capabilities.
  • Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 for web apps and LLM’s.
  • Understanding of common operating systems and business application platforms, enterprise architecture and integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as ISO 27001:2022, NIST 800-53 and NIST CSF.
  • Ability to understand and collaborate on technical concepts related to software architecture, data and reporting, and user experience.

General Summary:

Your role as a member of the security architecture team is to protect Qualcomm from compromises such as data breaches, hacking attempts, targeted and insider threats, and other forms of cyberattacks.

Your primary responsibilities will be:

designing, analyzing, and validating architectural solutions and implementations, creating secure architectural patterns for both enterprise and cloud environments, and helping to find and highlight opportunities for broad or systemic improvements. You will be a security evangelist, driving company-wide environment hardening initiatives and representing the information security group throughout Qualcomm.

We are a collaborative team

that is always learning, sharing, and researching. You will collaborate with specialists and generalists across information security domains regularly, with a focus on cross-training with our red and blue teams. You must have broad expertise in Information Security or related fields, strong technical writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to learn and grow in a rapidly evolving environment.

Responsibilities:

· Partner with IT and business units to conduct security assessments, generate threat models, address findings, and validate adherence to security guidance.

· Evangelize security within Qualcomm and drive company-wide environment hardening initiatives.

· Provide security recommendations on existing and new applications, system, and network architectures.

· Establish alternative security measures to allow for business continuity while protecting the company's assets.

· Develop and advise on best practices around cloud platforms.

· Track data security findings to closure in a timely manner by partnering with business units, communicating solutions, and verifying remediation.

· Perform risk analysis for corporate functional & technical areas and 3rd party providers relevant to data security.

· Act as a mentor and provide guidance and technical leadership to other staff members.

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field:

· 5+ years of experience in IT, Cyber Security, or related area.

· 3+ years of experience with Programming Languages such as Python, JavaScript, C, C++, Java.

· 4+ years of experience in software and/or application testing (e.g., creating test cases and prototype environments, QA, software, or application testing).

· 2+ years hands-on experience with major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP.)

· 2+ years of leadership role in projects/programs

  • 2+ years’ experience developing and/or assessing IT architectural designs.

5+ years of experience cyber security experience in the following areas:

  • Networking
  • Web applications
  • Cryptography fundamentals
  • OS Hardening
  • OIDC/OAuth token exchange & On Behalf Of
  • Basic scripting and automating capabilities.
  • OWASP Top 10 for web apps and LLM’s
  • Common operating systems and business application platforms including an understanding of their enterprise architecture and integration patterns.

Minimum Qualifications:

OR

High School diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 40 lbs.
