Job Description

As a Data Center Facilities Manager at Google, you'll lead a 24/7 team, managing data center operations and upholding service level agreements. Responsibilities include managing uptime and maintenance of various systems (water pumps, HVAC, UPS, generators, etc.), supporting new equipment integration, and responding to abnormal conditions. You'll ensure environmental and safety standards are met, troubleshoot performance issues, and minimize recovery time from failures. The role requires strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining optimal data center performance.

Must have:

7+ years exp. in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or Controls/Automation
Data center systems knowledge (UPS, generators, HVAC)
Troubleshooting & maintenance skills
Team leadership & SLA management
Ability to lift 50lbs & use safety equipment

Good to have:

Experience in controls/automation, construction, or related fields
Data center, hospital, or power plant experience
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in data centers

Minimum qualifications:

Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or Controls/Automation experience in an industrial/commercial environment.
Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs of equipment, the required use of OSHA standard safety equipment such as limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety harnesses.
Ability to work non-standard hours and work rotations/shifts.

Preferred qualifications:

7 years of experience in controls/automation, or construction/technical environment or a related field.
Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment (e.g., Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC units).
Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.

As a Data Center Facilities Manager, you will lead a team in 24/7 Data Center operations. You will be responsible for working towards Service Level Agreements with internal teams on up time and efficiencies. You will grow the campus team to meet the needs of the business, and leverage technical talent across the campus and identify key hiring needs for regional data centers. You will ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures. You are always on call to keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best experience possible.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$145,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components.
Provide daily assistance to technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems, and assess their working order.
Manage the uptime and maintenance of water pumps and treatment systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
