Kavaliro is seeking a Data Scientist III to support a client in Maryland. The role requires deep expertise in machine learning, scalable data solutions, and secure operations, with a focus on building and deploying ML models in production, integrating CI/CD pipelines for data workflows, and supporting mission-critical systems in a classified setting. Responsibilities include designing and developing end-to-end data science solutions, implementing MLOps frameworks, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing large-scale datasets and data pipelines, and documenting solutions. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 12 years of professional experience are required, along with proficiency in Python, R, or Scala, hands-on MLOps tools experience, and Docker/Kubernetes deployment skills. An active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is mandatory.
Good To Have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline
  • Familiarity with mission environments, secure enclaves, or IC community tools
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 12+ years of professional experience in data science and MLOps
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or Scala
  • Hands-on experience with MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker)
  • Experience deploying ML models via Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-native environments
  • Strong grasp of data engineering principles and secure data operations
  • Active in-scope TS/SCI with polygraph (within last 7 years)

Job Description:
Kavaliro is seeking a Data Scientist / MLOps Engineer to support an upcoming program requiring deep expertise in machine learning, scalable data solutions, and secure operations. In addition to fulfilling all requirements under the DS3 labor category, the ideal candidate will bring substantial experience building and deploying machine learning models in production environments, integrating CI/CD pipelines for data workflows, and supporting mission-critical systems in a classified setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop end-to-end data science solutions, including feature engineering, modeling, and deployment
  • Implement and maintain MLOps frameworks for continuous integration and delivery of ML models
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support analytic and operational needs
  • Manage large-scale datasets, data pipelines, and compute environments in compliance with security standards
  • Document solutions and contribute to model governance and reproducibility efforts
Required Qualifications (DS3 + MLOps):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 12+ years of professional experience (per DS3 category), with recent focus in data science and MLOps
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or Scala for statistical computing and machine learning
  • Hands-on experience with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or SageMaker
  • Experience deploying ML models via Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-native environments
  • Strong grasp of data engineering principles and secure data operations
  • Must possess an active in-scope TS/SCI with polygraph (within last 7 years)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline

Location:
  • Fort Meade, MD
  • This position is onsite and there is no remote availability
Clearance Requirement:
  • Candidates must have an active TS/SCI security clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph
