Job Summary
BlackRock’s Global Investment Operations (GIO) team handles post-trade and asset servicing for BlackRock's investment businesses. The Derivative Operations team manages BlackRock's Derivative activity, including Trade Confirmation/Clearing, Periodic Payments, Collateral Management, and Reconciliation. The Director will manage risk by overseeing Margin Processing, collateral reconciliations, and exception management, ensuring data alignment with various record holders. This role involves leading a regional team, managing performance, and fostering a positive work environment, while partnering globally to optimize solutions and reduce risk.
Must Have
- Manage risk by overseeing Margin Processing, collateral reconciliations and exception management processes.
- Ensure BlackRock data is in line with CCP/Clearing brokers, custodians, counterparties and other prime record holders.
- Prepare monthly metrics, maintain training materials, provide thought leadership and liaise with technology to strategically enhance workflows and operating models.
- Lead the regional team, managing performance, setting goals, solving problems and foster a positive work environment.
- Partner closely with global, product aligned teams in Derivative Operations to implement tactical and systematic solutions to optimize scale and reduce risk.
- Coordinate with external providers, particularly sell-side firms and FinTech vendors, to drive strategic changes across the industry.
- Detailed data interrogation and trend analysis.
- Interpret, simplify and present data to partners with various backgrounds.
- Translate data to identify potential opportunities to increase scale and/or reduce operational risk.
- Partner with management teams to prioritize and implement data strategy.
- Implement process change and design solutions.
- Build and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external partners to inspire change.
- Conduct meetings with external providers to discuss performance measurements and drive performance improvement.
- Participate in local, regional and global initiatives.
- Support colleagues in a global team environment.
- Review and documentation business process.
- 12+ years working in investment operations with proficiency in trade confirmations and settlements.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task without losing sight of overall objectives and deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, rapid changing, deadline driven environment.
- Proven track record of leading and motivating teams.
- Contribute in creating a team vision, planning and delivering steps to ensure a consistently high performing team.
- Analytic problem solver comfortable working with large data sets.
- Excellent communicator, able to simplify and convey complex themes to different audiences.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills.
- Organized approach with diligent follow-up on open issues and identify appropriate action to be taken.
- Proven track record in enhancing and transforming workflows and operating models.
- Capable with SQL, JIRA and Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint and BI.

BlackRock’s Global Investment Operations (GIO) team is responsible for the post-trade and asset servicing functions that support BlackRock's investment businesses worldwide. GIO spans trade documentation, transaction management, collateral management, payments, corporate actions, reconciliations and securities lending functions. GIO partners with BlackRock's Portfolio Managers and Traders globally to provide operational excellence to our partners and clients.
GIO’s Derivative Operations team is responsible for handling, processing and managing BlackRock's Derivative activity, which includes Trade Confirmation/Clearing, Periodic Payments, Collateral Management and Reconciliation of Exchange Traded Derivatives, Cleared Swap, Contract for Difference and Over the Counter products.
