Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer/Draftsman with 5 to 8 years of experience to support the design and drafting of Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs). The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating accurate mechanical and piping layouts, 2D/3D drawings, and technical documentation using CAD tools. A strong understanding of piping systems and mechanical equipment layouts in process plants is essential.
Must have:
  • Create 2D/3D mechanical and piping drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Plant 3D.
  • Develop general arrangement (GA) drawings, isometrics, orthographic views, and equipment layouts for VRU systems.
  • Generate detailed piping and mechanical fabrication drawings specific to VRUs.
  • Prepare Material Takeoffs (MTOs) and technical datasheets for piping and mechanical components.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, client requirements, and internal drafting procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input during project meetings.
  • Update drawings based on design changes and maintain records systematically.
  • Strong understanding of piping systems and mechanical equipment layouts in process plants.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in mechanical design/drafting.
Good to have:
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
  • Familiarity with other CAD software.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering sketches, P&IDs, and specifications.
  • Proactive problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and industry advancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create 2D/3D mechanical and piping drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Plant 3D.
  • Develop general arrangement (GA) drawings, isometrics, orthographic views, and equipment layouts for VRU systems.
  • Generate detailed piping and mechanical fabrication drawings specific to VRUs.
  • Prepare Material Takeoffs (MTOs) and technical datasheets for piping and mechanical components.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, client requirements, and internal drafting procedures.

Software Proficiency:

  • Essential: AutoCAD (2D & 3D)
  • Preferred (Added Advantage): Autodesk Plant 3D, Autodesk Inventor, and familiarity with other CAD software.

Technical Skills:

  • Piping design specific to VRUs and process equipment
  • Plant layout and equipment modeling
  • AutoCAD 2D & 3D drafting
  • Isometric & orthographic drawing development
  • Material Takeoff (MTO) preparation
  • Technical datasheets and Bill of Materials preparation
  • Basic knowledge of VRU process equipment and flow

Soft Skills & Collaboration:

  • Strong communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to interpret engineering sketches, P&IDs, and specifications
  • Proactive problem-solving and teamwork skills
  • Active participation in project and client meetings
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and industry advancements
