Job Description
This Developer Advocate role at Google focuses on Chrome (Android/Web) and requires a deep understanding of Android and web development. Responsibilities include becoming a technical expert, collaborating with product and development teams to provide API/library feedback, creating developer resources (blog posts, code samples, videos), working with marketing to reach the target audience, understanding community needs, and escalating issues to stakeholders. The role involves empowering developers to build amazing experiences for Chrome and the web, especially as ChromeOS integrates Android technologies. This includes supporting developers in creating seamless experiences across various devices.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in a technical role
- 3+ years of web development experience
- Technical expertise in Android and web development
- Experience creating developer resources
Good to have:
- Experience as a technical practitioner in a developer community
- Android app development experience
- Experience creating videos, blog posts, demos, sample code or technical documentation
- Experience in Developer Relations

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software developing, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
- 3 years of experience in web development.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a technical practitioner in a developer community.
- Experience in Android development and building Android apps.
- Experience creating videos, blog posts, demos, sample code or technical documentation.
- Experience in Developer Relations.

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Developers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product developing teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.
In this role, you will empower developers to build amazing experiences for Chrome and the web. This is a unique opportunity to guide developers through the transition as ChromeOS embraces Android technologies, such as the Android Linux kernel and Android frameworks. You will play an important role in helping developers create innovative and seamless experiences for Chrome users on a variety of devices, including phones, large screens, and accessories.
Responsibilities
- Become a technical subject matter expert on the intersection of Android and web development and find opportunities for Google to build better products.
- Collaborate with product and developing teams to provide feedback on APIs/libraries and communicate changes to developers.
- Create developer resources including blog posts, sample code, codelabs, and videos.
- Work with marketing and product teams to craft relevant narratives for developers and ensure we are reaching our intended audience.
- Understand community needs and what bottlenecks are slowing down developers, explaining and elevating these issues to appropriate stakeholders and driving resolution on them.
